Citroen has introduced the all-new C3 hatchback in the Indian market. The new car will take on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ignis and Tata Punch in the market. The Citroen C3 hatchback definitely sits much higher than regular hatchbacks available in India. It gets a ground clearance of 180mm, putting it squarely in Maruti Ignis and Tata Punch territory.

The front of the car is typically Citroen with the logo integrated into the bonnet lid. The logo extends to become grille and then to become dual LED DRLs.

The Citroen C3 gets flap-type door handles and thick cladding on the sides. Even the wheel arches get thick plastic cladding. The A, B and C pillars are blacked out to give a floating roof effect.

There are orange highlights all over the body and even inside the cabin.

Citroen does not offer factory-fitted alloy wheels. However, you can get them as an option at the dealership.

The rear gets a black bumper that will save the car from a lot of scratches and also adds a muscular look to the package.

The quirky styling of the hatchback is definitely a head-turner. It looks more like a micro SUV – a-la-Tata Punch – rather than a regular hatchback.

The cabin looks futuristic with highlights all over. Customers can choose between orange and grey highlights on the dashboard.

The gear lever looks like an automatic transmission lever but the seats are very comfortable and give you a sofa-like seating pleasure.

It gets a monochrome digital instrument cluster with warning lamps on the side. You do get a lot of info from this small screen.

The rear seats are very wide and offer one of the best shoulder rooms in the segment. Citroen says that the shoulder room is about 50mm bigger than the closest rival.

The climate control system is not automatic. But the knobs are well-engineered and even get two-in-one-dials.

There are two engine options. The 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated and 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol. There is no automatic transmission available with the Citroen C3. The naturally aspirated engine offers a 5-speed manual and the turbocharged version offers 6-speed transmission.

Citroen will start accepting bookings for the all-new C3 from 1st July. The deliveries will begin on 20th July. The price announcement will happen before that.
