As the used car market in India is growing day by day, more and more OEMs are trying to enter this market to further boost their sales. This is why the German luxury carmaker Porsche AG is also preparing to open its very first used car programme. Porsche India will be inaugurating its first ‘Porsche Approved’ pre-owned car programme at its Kochi showroom on June 8, 2022.
Volkswagen group which is the parent company for Porshe, Audi, Lamborghini and a ton of other luxury automakers, is looking to enhance its one-stop solution for buying, selling, and exchanging of certified pre-owned vehicles. Currently, the VW group in India runs the VW’s Das WeltAuto and Audi Approved Plus programme and following the launch of its first showroom, the Porsche Approved programme will join the list.
With its used car programme, the Stuttgart based automaker will primarily focus on the purchase, sale, or exchange of used Porsche vehicles in the country. The company is planning to provide competitive pricing for its used automobiles as well as authentic accessories, insurance, and financial help to its consumers through this platform. Porsche may also provide service and warranty plans.

Currently, Volkswagen operates over 120 Das WeltAuto centres in India. And since its inception back in 2019, VW sold close to 3,000 cars in the first year of operation. It then sold a total of 10,000 vehicles in 2020. Then in 2021, the figure doubled itself, as the company sold over 20,000 cars through its pre-owned car centres. Audi India, on the other hand, is expanding its pre-owned automobile business, “Audi Approved Plus,” to allow customers to upgrade without having to spend money on a new premium vehicle. From its existing 14 centres, the business hopes to open at least 20 more by the end of 2022.
Earlier in April of this year, the German carmaker’s Indian subsidiary Porsche India recorded its best quarterly result since 2014. Porsche’s sales in India have accelerated dramatically in the first quarter of 2022. In comparison to the same period last year, the firm saw a 22% rise in new car deliveries. In the first three months of this year, a total of 188 units were delivered, marking a significant increase in sales.
The company’s SUV lineup, which includes the Cayenne and Macan, was named the best-selling in its India portfolio. Furthermore, the brand is currently growing in other cities. New facilities have just opened in Chennai and Bengaluru, bringing the total number of sales touchpoints in the nation to eight. Furthermore, Porsche India plans to extend its product line-up in the future by introducing additional models such as the 718 Cayman GT4 RS and Cayenne Turbo GT. In terms of recent debuts, Indian fans have reacted well to the Macan facelift and Taycan EV.
Meanwhile, in other Porsche news, the company recently launched the 718 Cayman GT4 RS in India for a whopping price of Rs 2.54 crore (ex-showroom). It is the most powerful 718 car ever produced. In 7 minutes and 09 seconds, the sportscar completed the 20.83 km Nürburgring Nordschleife. It accelerates from a standstill to 100 kilometres per hour in 3.4 seconds, and from 0 to 200 kilometres per hour in 10.9 seconds.
