The Tucson will compete with the Volkswagen Tiguan, Jeep Compass and the Citroen C5 Aircross.

According to a media report, the fourth-generation Hyundai Tucson is likely to be offered with a 7-seat configuration in India.

In the global market, Hyundai offers two variants of the Tucson: standard-wheelbase (2,680 mm) and a long-wheelbase version (2,755 mm). Unlike the outgoing model which is a 5-seater, the new Tucson could be offered with a 7-seat layout only, which should give it an advantage over its rivals like the Volkswagen Tiguan, Jeep Compass and the Citroen C5 Aircross.

In terms of its design, the SUV features Hyundai’s Parametric dynamics philosophy. It comes with half-mirror type daytime running lights integrated into the grille. The rear of the car features a full-width LED light bar with triangular tail lamp clusters.

Inside, the new Tucson gets dual 10.25-inch touchscreens and a digital instrument cluster. The SUV is also expected to come with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

Globally, the 4th-gen Tucson is offered with a range of petrol and diesel engine options. These include a 2.5-litre, 4-cylinder, direct-injection petrol engine with 187 BHP and 247 Nm and 1.6-litre, turbo-petrol hybrid or plug-in hybrid with 227 BHP and 350 Nm. The diesel range includes 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre oil burners.
