Mahindra XUV700: More features deleted due to chip shortage

Mahindra is not offering sequential turn indicators and a second remote key with AX5, AX7 and AX7 L variants.

The chip shortage has adversely impacted vehicle production not just in India, but across the world. With semiconductors in short supply, Mahindra has removed more features from the XUV700.

According to the latest reports, AX5, AX7 and AX7 L variants of the XUV700 are being delivered without a second key. Mahindra has also deleted sequential turn indicators from these variants.

It is said that customers are being asked to sign an acknowledgement form, which states that the second remote key would be provided by the dealership in 4-6 months and that sequential turn indicators would be installed whenever parts are available.

The chip shortage has also forced Mahindra to introduce the AX7 Smart variant with fewer features. It misses out on ADAS, ESP, hill hold assist, hill descent control, knee airbag, drive modes, electronic parking brake, wireless charger, electric door handles and Driver Drowsiness Detection.

The XUV700 comes with two engine options: 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol producing 197 BHP and 380 Nm and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine that makes 182 BHP and 420 Nm (MT) / 450 Nm (AT). Both engines come with a choice of a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel-drive is also available as an option.
