Hyundai Creta & Alcazar to soon get ADAS features: Details

According to media reports, Hyundai will introduce ADAS or Advanced Driver Aids System to its Creta and Alcazar this year. So, we can expect ADAS features such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Detection, Traffic Sign Recognition, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist etc. to be offered on both the SUVs. It makes sense for Hyundai to add ADAS because cars like MG Astor and Mahindra XUV700 have been able to gather a lot of attention and sales because of the ADAS features that they offer.

Creta is expected to get a facelift sometime this year. The Facelift Creta has already been launched in some international markets. It will get a heavily reworked front fascia. The front will now look more like the global-spec Tucson. Hyundai calls it a parametric-style grille. So, the LED Daytime Running Lamps integrate with the grille. The current Creta design is quite polarizing for many people. Updating the Creta would ensure that the design language looks like other Hyundai cars.

Other updates to the Creta will be a new set of alloy wheels, revised tail lamps, a slightly different tailgate and an updated rear bumper. There will be some updates to the interior too. So, there can be updated upholstery and more equipment on offer. Aside from ADAS technology, we are expecting a fully digital instrument cluster, 360-degree parking camera, front parking sensors etc.

Alcazar is not expected to get any major update considering that the 7-seater SUV was launched quite recently. The only feature that would be added to the Alcazar will be the ADAS equipment.

No changes mechanically

Hyundai will not make any changes to any of the engines or the gearboxes. Both the SUVs come with the same 1.5-litre diesel engine that produces 115 PS of max power and 250 Nm of peak torque. It is offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

The petrol engines on both SUVs are different. The Alcazar gets only a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated unit that produces 159 PS of max power and 191 Nm of peak torque. The gearbox options stay the same as the diesel engine.

The Creta comes with two different petrol engines. There is a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine that produces 115 PS of max power and 144 Nm of peak torque. It is offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox or an IVT automatic transmission. Then there is the 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 140 PS of max power and 250 Nm of peak torque. It is offered only with a 7-speed DCT automatic transmission.

Upcoming Tucson

Hyundai is also working on launching the fourth generation of Tucson in the Indian market. The SUV has already been spotted on our roads. It gets an all-new exterior as well as an interior. We are expecting that Hyundai will offer Tucson in India with two engines. There will be a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 159 PS and 191 Nm. Yes, this is the same engine as the Alcazar. The second engine on offer will be a 2.0-litre diesel that puts out 182 bhp and 400 Nm.
