The Scorpio N is a big upgrade over the current Scorpio. Mahindra knows this and they have decided that they will not be discontinuing the current Scorpio once the Scorpio N launches. What Mahindra will do is rename the current Scorpio. They will call it Scorpio Classic.

Exterior
As we have seen from the exterior images, the Scorpio N looks butch and like a proper SUV. It still retains its boxy design and has a lot of road presence. Up-front, there are new twin-pod LED projector headlamps with swiping turn indicators. The bumper and grille are new but they retain Mahindra’s 6-vertical chrome slat grille. The Scorpio N is the second vehicle from Mahindra to use their new twins-peak logo. There are also LED fog lamps that are surrounded by C-shaped LED Daytime Running Lamps.
On the sides, there are new diamond-cut alloy wheels that measure 18-inches. It is expected that Mahindra will offer all-terrain tyres from the factory. At the rear, there are new LED tail lamps that are placed vertically. They do look a bit Volvo-like but we have also seen a similar design on the previous generation of the Scorpio. The rear tailgate still opens sideways via a door handle.
Interior
The interior of the Scorpio N is a big departure from the current Scorpio. It does not look anything like the current Scorpio. Mahindra has opted for a black and brown theme which gives an up-market and premium feel to the cabin. Some of the bits and pieces are carried over from the XUV700. So, the wiper and headlight stalks, steering wheel and the instrument cluster is the same one that we have seen on the XUV700’s MX variant.
There is a large touchscreen infotainment system that runs on AdrenoX. It does support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Features on offer are an electric sunroof, keyless entry, push-button to start/stop the engine, dual-zone climate control, multi-function steering wheel, cruise control, manual parking brake and much more.
Seating configuration
The Scorpio N is expected to be offered in two seating configurations. You can get the second row with two individual captain chairs or a bench seat. The third-row now gets front-facing seats which are considered safer than the side-facing jump seats.
Engine and gearbox
There is a lot of speculation over the internet when we talk about how much power will the engines of Scorpio N produce. Mahindra will offer the Scorpio N with a petrol engine and a diesel engine. Both of which, we have already seen on the Thar and the XUV700. Both the engines are expected to be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. There would also be all-wheel drive on offer that Mahindra is calling “4Xplore”.
