For those who are contemplating buying a new Skoda Slavia, be prepared to lose more moolah. Skoda has just announced that it is hiking the prices of all the variants in the lineup of Slavia. The Czech carmaker has announced price hikes between Rs 30,000 to Rs 60,000 over the introductory prices of the sedan.

Skoda hikes the prices of Slavia by Rs 60,000

The Skoda Slavia came to the Indian market in February 2022 at a starting price of Rs 10.69 lakh for the base-spec Activa 1.0 TSI manual variant. With a hike of Rs 30,000 on this variant, the new starting price of Slavia’s range is Rs 10.99 lakh. The manual and automatic versions of the next variant, Ambition 1.0 TSI, have also become dearer by Rs 30,000. The range-topping variants in the 1.0-litre TSI lineup – Style MT (without sunroof), Style MT (with sunroof) and Style AT have become more expensive by Rs 40,000. The steepest price hike has come to the Style MT and Style DSG variants in the 1.5-litre TSI lineup, which has received a price hike of Rs 60,000.

With these price hikes, the new Skoda Slavia range is now priced between Rs 10.99 lakh to Rs 18.39 lakh, thus making it the most expensive car in its category of affordable midsize sedans. What’s even more shocking is the fact that the price hike has come along the lines of Skoda’s decision to downsize the touchscreen from the previous 10-inch unit to a new 8-inch unit in Ambition and Style variants.

Skoda Slavia feature list updated

The previously-available, more premium 10-inch unit, which features wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, has made way for a smaller after-market 8-inch unit from Pioneer. Skoda says that this decision of downsizing the infotainment system has been taken due to the ongoing shortage of semiconductor chips. While this new unit misses out on wireless connectivity and Skoda’s connected car tech support, it continues to support wired operations for Apple Carplay and Android Auto.

Available as a petrol-only sedan, the Skoda Slavia is offered with two choices of turbocharged petrol powertrains – a 1.0-litre three-cylinder TSI petrol and a 1.5-litre four-cylinder TSI petrol. While the 1.0-litre TSI makes 115 PS of power and 175 Nm of torque, the bigger 1.5-litre TSI churns out 150 PS of power and 250 Nm of torque. A 6-speed manual transmission is offered as the standard gearbox across all the variants. However, there are two optional automatic transmissions on offer as well – a 6-speed torque converter for the 1.0-litre TSI and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic (DSG) for the 1.5-litre TSI.
