[ad_1]
The official launch of Kia Carens is just around the corner. While there is still some time for the prices to get unveiled, we have come to know about the official fuel efficiency figures of all the possible powertrain combinations of the new MPV from Kia India.
First of all, let’s know about the confirmed engine-gearbox lineup for the Kia Carens in India. The new Kia Carens will be available with three four-cylinder engine options – 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol, 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel, all of which are shared with the Kia Seltos. All these three engine options will come with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. However, while the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol will be offered with an option of a 7-speed DCT, the 1.5-litre diesel will also get a 6-speed automatic in selective variants.

Now coming to the main point of interest here – fuel efficiency. The 1.5-litre petrol, which is available solely with a manual gearbox, returns 15.7 km/l, which is almost 0.8 km/l lower than the economy of the same engine present in the Seltos. Then comes the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol, which is claimed to offer 16.2 km/l with the manual gearbox and 16.5 km/l with 7-speed DCT. These figures are more or less similar to that of the turbo-variants of the Seltos. Finally coming to the diesel-powered versions, which state a fuel economy figure of 21.3kmpl for the manual versions and 18.4 km/l for the automatic versions. These figures of diesel variants are almost 0.3-0.4 km/l higher than the same engine present in the Seltos diesel.
