Riding high on the success of his latest directorial ‘RRR’, film director Koduri Srisaila Sri Rajamouli, popularly known as SS Rajamouli, has rewarded himself with a new luxury car. However, contrary to the belief of film celebrities opting for high-end luxury cars, SS Rajamouli has gone for a comparatively entry-spec luxury car, a new Volvo XC40. The ace director recently took the delivery of a Volvo XC40 at his residence in Hyderabad, which matches his image of a simpleton while being a luxury car in the very first place.

SS Rajamouli bought the XC40 in a dual-tone paint shade of Fusion Red with a black roof. It is the same T4 R-Design variant, which happens to be the sole fully-loaded variant in which the XC40 is on sale in the Indian car market. Currently, the Volvo XC40 T4 R-Design is priced at Rs 44.50 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The image of Rajamouli taking the delivery of his XC40 is shared by Volvo Cars India on its social media handles. The XC40 is the third luxury car in the car collection of SS Rajamouli, as the renowned film director already owns a BMW 7-Series and a Range Rover.

Volvo relaunched the XC40 in India in the BS6 era in a petrol-only form. This time, the XC40 arrived in India in the facelifted form, which included a revised petrol powertrain, cosmetic changes and new features in and out.

On the outside, the new Volvo XC40 gets a piano black front grille, LED headlamps with Thor’s hammer-shaped daytime running LEDs, vertically-stacked LED tail lamps and machined alloy wheels. The cabin of the XC40 is wrapped in soft-touch leather upholstery and has an all-black finish with piano black and aluminium inserts at places.

Despite its compact size and entry-level positioning for a luxury car, the Volvo XC40 is generously equipped with premium features like a 12.3-inch portrait-style touchscreen infotainment system powered by Google, a full-TFT instrument console, 14-speaker Harman Kardon 600W music system, panoramic sunroof, powered front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control and more. Volvo is known for its safe cars, and the XC40 is no exception with radar-based driver-assist systems like distance alert, adaptive cruise control, lane mitigation and driver alerts, apart from regulars like seven airbags and front and rear park assist.

The only powertrain option available in the Volvo XC40 is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which is coupled to an 8-speed automatic transmission and pumps out 187 bhp of maximum power and 300 Nm of maximum torque.
