Bhavish Aggarwal, the founder and CEO of Ola, said today that a few batches of its electric scooters may be recalled based on recommendations given by investigators looking into recent EV fires, ET Now reported.

This comes close on the heels of reports about a recent e-scooter fire in Guwahati, which caused the rider to be hospitalised.

The company, in response, said that the said fire incident was not caused by any malfunction in its vehicle, but rather due to over-speeding and panic-braking by the rider.

The Guwahati incident, which happened in mid-April, was preceded by another case in Pune in end-March where an Ola S1 Pro scooter had caught fire.

It may be noted here that Ola Electric has had to face customer complaints over a range of issues in the recent past.

Agarwal said on Twitter that world-class agencies have been roped in to look into the cases.

“We have commissioned world-class agencies on the root cause of the recent EV fire and what can be done better. We might do a recall of a few batches depending on the recommendations we receive. We will try to make sure consumer confidence remains high and we will look out for defects if any,” he said, as per the ET Now report.
