Mahindra launched the all-new XUV700 in the market last year. The SUV became popular among buyers in a short span of time. The all-new SUV is so popular that there is currently a waiting period of over an year. What made XUV700 SUV popular among buyers is the price and the features. Mahindra XUV700 is one of the most advanced SUV in Mahindra’ portfolio. Deliveries for the XUV700 has started and it is now commonly spotted on our roads. The base variant of Mahindra XUV700 is not that common but, does it actually make any sense? Here we have an ownership review of the base MX variant of XUV700.

The video has been uploaded by Man And Motor on their YouTube channel. In this video, vlogger talks to the owner of a Mahindra XUV700 base MX petrol variant. The owner had booked the car initially when the manufacturer had opened booking. He got the delivery in February this year. The owner mentioned that he got the petrol base variant and has also got the whole SUV wrapped in matte black finish.

As mentioned in many of our previous videos, the base MX variant does not offer many features that made XUV700. The main reason why the owner bought it is because he thought it was a value for money product. He mentioned that he got the SUV for Rs 13 lakh on road and when compared to many other SUVs like Kia Seltos or Hyundai Creta, XUV700 felt like a value for money product. The owner mentions that base variant do not get smart door handles but, the design remains the same. At times, even after closing the door, the handle bar remains out which looks odd. The owner had mentioned the issue to service centre and even after rectifying it, the issue came back.

Other than this, vlogger was very happy with the way XUV700 drove. Unlike diesel variant, the petrol engine is available in single state of tune in XUV700. The 2.0 litre turbo petrol engine generates 200 Ps and 380 Nm of peak torque. The car felt very smooth to drive and the only problem is the fuel efficiency. The owner mentions that the car offers him around 8.5 to 9 kmpl according to display. Vlogger mentions that people looking for fuel efficiency can opt for diesel engine in the base variant.

The owner mentions that he was very satisfied with the overall fit and finish of the product. Even the base variant comes with a touchscreen infotainment system which is missing in many cars in the segment. Owner also mentions that he felt that slotting first and second gear requires a bit more effort than rest of the gears. Owner has not faced any issues with the vehicle so far. He mentions that he took the drive of a Tata Safari before XUV700 and felt that Safari offered a better suspension setup. The one negative he spoke about in the video was not actually about the car, it was about the service experience. He mentioned that there have been instances that he had to wait all-day long at the service centre and even then the issue does not get resolved. Other than this, the car felt planted even at high speeds and also handles well on road as well.
