Maruti Suzuki recently launched the 2022 Ertiga in the Indian market. Now, they will be launching the XL6 Facelift. The manufacturer has confirmed that the 2022 XL6 will launch on the 21st of April and they are already accepting bookings for a token amount of Rs. 11,000. The MPV will get some cosmetic changes, mechanical changes as well as feature additions.

Maruti Suzuki will now offer the XL6 with ventilated seats. This is the first time that we will be seeing ventilated seats on any Maruti Suzuki. Then there is a 360-degree parking camera that will help with parking the MPV in tight parking spaces more easily. These are the two new features that Maruti Suzuki has teased.

But, we also know that the XL6 will come with a new touchscreen infotainment system that will run a new user interface and it supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It will be similar to the one that we have seen on the Ertiga and Baleno. It would also get Suzuki Connect connected car technology.

The 2022 XL6 can also get a heads-up display and 6 airbags considering that we have already seen both these features on the Baleno and XL6 sits above Baleno. Moreover, we do hope that XL6 comes with four airbags as standard.

Maruti Suzuki has revised the front grille of the XL6. The front and rear bumper could also be slightly different from the outgoing version. On the sides, there would be new diamond-cut alloy wheels. The interior could also get a slightly different theme than the current one. There would be some changes to the centre console to integrate the buttons for ventilated seats.

We already know that the XL6 will be offered in only two variants just like the current one. There is Zeta and Alpha. Both variants would also be sold with an automatic transmission. There would be six colour options to choose from. There is Arctic Silver, Brave Khaki, Splendid Silver, Grandeur Grey, Opulent Red and Celestial Blue. All the colours are new except for the Arctic Silver and Brave Khaki.

Maruti Suzuki will also upgrade the XL6’s engine. It will be the same new 1.5-litre DualJet VVT petrol engine that we have seen on the Ertiga. It is still a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated unit but now it comes with two injectors per cylinder instead of one. This would help in extracting more fuel efficiency from the engine.

The engine produces 103 bhp of max power and 136 Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox or a new 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. If you get the automatic transmission then you would also get paddle shifters mounted behind the steering wheel which is also a first for Maruti Suzuki.

The new transmission would help in increasing the fuel economy. It replaces the ageing 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission that we have seen on Maruti Suzuki vehicles till now. The new gearbox should be faster and smoother than the current unit and more importantly, it simply has more gears.
