The leaked document says that the new XL6 will be offered in two variants just like the current one. There would be Zeta and Alpha. It seems like there would be no CNG powertrain on offer. However, the automatic transmission would be on offer on both variants.

Maruti Suzuki will be offering the XL6 in six colours. There will be Arctic Silver, Brave Khaki, Splendid Silver, Grandeur Grey, Opulent Red and Celestial Blue. The Arctic Silver and Brave Khaki are offered with the current XL6 also, the rest of the colours are new.

New engine

The 2022 XL6 would come with a new engine. It is called K12C DualJet VVT, it will be replacing the current K12B engine. It is still a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine. The K12C uses two injectors per cylinder whereas the K12B used to have one injector per cylinder. This increases the control over fueling which further helps in increasing the fuel economy.

Because of these improvements, the power output will be bumped up from 105 PS to 115 PS. That is an increase of 10 PS. The current engine produces 138 Nm of peak torque, we are still not sure about the torque output new engine but we expect it to be somewhere around 140 Nm. As standard, the engine would come with a 5-speed manual gearbox. There would also be an idle start/stop system on offer which would shut down the engine when the car comes to a halt and will restart the engine when the driver engages the clutch.

New gearbox

Maruti Suzuki will finally ditch the ageing 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission for a new 6-speed torque converter unit. It makes sense for the manufacturer to still use the torque converter automatic transmission because they are the oldest form of transmission and are the most reliable.

The 4-speed auto lacks the number of gears and sports mode. The new gearbox is expected to change gears more quickly and also more smoothly. Maruti Suzuki would also offer paddle shifters mounted behind the steering wheel. The new 6-speed unit would also help in improving fuel efficiency and meet the upcoming stricter emission norms.

New infotainment system

Maruti Suzuki will be updating the infotainment system of the XL6. It would now have a larger 9-inch unit which would be running on a new user interface. We have already seen it on the 2022 Baleno. It would support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Units of 2022 Ertiga have started reaching dealerships. There are subtle changes to the exterior of the MPV. We still cannot see the interior of the 2022 Ertiga. There would be a new grille in the front and the bumpers could be slightly redesigned.  In the picture, we can see that the chrome strip has been redesigned at the rear.
