The Virtus sedan will be the second product of Volkswagen under its India 2.0 project. The successor to Vento is based on Volkswagen’s popular MQB AO IN platform, also underpinning the Skoda Slavia and VW Taigun. The sedan will be available in six vibrant colors – Wild Cherry, Candy White, Carbon Steel Gray, Curcuma Yellow, Reflex Silver, Rising Blue Metallic.
Dimensionally, the Volkswagen Virtus stands 4,561mm in length, 1,752mm in width and 1,507mm in height. The sedan has a wheelbase of 2,651 mm and 521 litres of boot space. The Volkswagen sedan is a bit longer than the Skoda Slavia.
In terms of exterior, the sedan gets a two-slat grille, auto LED headlamps and auto wipers. The Virtus also features dual-tone 16-inch alloy wheels and chrome accents in front, side and rear.
Inside the cabin, the Virtus sedan comes equipped with features such as a 10.1-inch touchscreen information display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a fully-digital instrument cluster, My Volkswagen Connect, wireless charging, 8 speaker sound system, ventilated front leather seats, automatic climate control and electric sunroof. Moreover, it gets 4 USB ports, 12v socket, push start/stop button, height-adjustable head restraints, 60:40 split folding rear seat (on 1.5-litre TSI petrol variant), cooled glove box, rain sensors, Smart-touch ‘Climatronic’ AC and cruise control.
The Virtus sedan makes use of two engines – a 1.0-litre TSI petrol and 1.5-litre TSI petrol. The 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine produces a peak power of 115 ps and a maximum torque of 178 Nm torque. The 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine churns out a maximum power of 150 ps and a peak torque of 250 Nm. Both engines come mated with a six-speed manual transmission, however the 1.0-litre TSI engine is available with an optional six-speed torque converter automatic gearbox and the 1.5-litre TSI engine comes with an advanced seven-speed DSG transmission.

At the time of launch, the Virtus sedan will compete with the likes of the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Maruti Ciaz and the Skoda Slavia.
