Maruti has redesigned the exterior and the interior of the compact SUV completely. The headlamps and tail lamps are sleeker and there are new bumpers and a grill also. On the sides, there are new diamond-cut alloy wheels. However, the overall boxy design of the SUV has been retained. The engine is also new and is taken from the XL6 and Ertiga. YFG
The second launch from Maruti Suzuki will be the new mid-size SUV that has been codenamed YFG. It will share its underpinnings with Toyota’s mid-size SUV which will be called Hyryder. It will be sold with two-petrol engine options. The lower variant will get the same K12C petrol engine that will get mild-hybrid technology. It will come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Surprisingly, the report also says that the mild-hybrid version will get all-wheel drive system also. Then there will be the new strong hybrid engine which also has a displacement of 1.5-litres but it produces 116 PS. It will come mated to an e-CVT automatic transmission.
Jimny
It is being said that Maruti Suzuki has set a deadline to introduce the Jimny in India by the first quarter of FY 2023-2024. The manufacturer is already producing a 3-door version of the Jimny at their Gurugram production plant but they are also planning to introduce the 5-door version of the Jimny whose trials got postponed because of the semiconductor shortage issue. The Jimny has already been well received throughout the world and when Maruti showcased it in India at the Auto Expo 2020, it generated a lot of hype around it. So, yes there is a very high possibility that the Jimny will sell in good numbers for the manufacturer.
Baleno Cross
Maruti Suzuki is working on a Baleno-based compact SUV. It is being referred to as the “sister car” to Baleno and has been codenamed YTB. What this essentially means is that the new compact SUV will share a lot of its parts with the Baleno. So, it will be based on the Heartect platform and there will be the same 1.2-litre petrol engine. Sharing the components means that the research and development costs will be reduced. The YTB will be positioned below the Brezza.
