More powerful Mahindra XUV300 is on its way
[ad_1]
The Mahindra XUV300 already ranks as one of the most powerful compact SUVs one can buy in India, courtesy of its class-leading turbocharged petrol and diesel engines. Now, it looks like Mahindra is set to break its set barriers with an all-new turbocharged petrol version of the XUV300. Recently, Mahindra got a certification from International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT) for a new version of XUV300, which hints that the Indian UV specialist will be bringing it to the market very soon.
If sources are to be believed, it is the long-awaited Mahindra XUV300 Sportz, which was showcased for the first time during the Auto Expo 2020. The XUV300 Sportz was shown as a more powerful petrol-powered avatar of the compact SUV. This powerful compact SUV was showcased with the intent of launching it in India after the Auto Expo, however, the launch got postponed indefinitely due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The focus on other important launches like new-generation Thar, XUV700 and Scorpio-N further pushed the launch of XUV300 Sportz.

More powerful turbo-petrol
The main highlight of the Mahindra XUV300 Sportz was its next-generation update of the 1.2-litre three-cylinder mStallion turbocharged petrol engine, which claims a power output of 131 PS and a torque output of 230 Nm. These figures make it significantly more powerful than the already potent current version of the XUV300 petrol, which claims 110 PS of maximum power and 200 Nm of maximum torque. A 6-speed manual gearbox might be offered as the sole choice of transmission for this new version, as showcased in the XUV300 Sportz.
Given that the current version of the Mahindra XUV300 is in the market for quite a long time now, this new version of the SUV might be offered as a part of the facelift of the SUV. However, it is not clear whether this new and more powerful engine will be offered as the standard petrol powertrain or a more powerful optional engine apart from the regular 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine from the current version.
The Mahindra Sportz showcased during the Auto Expo 2020 was based on the top-spec W8(O) variant of the SUV and got a host of contrast red highlights on the body graphics, brake callipers, steering wheel, contrast stitching on the seats and surrounds for AC vents and centre console. It is expected that these highlights might be offered as a part of the new version of the XUV300.
In addition to the updates mentioned above, the new Mahindra XUV300 will continue to offer features like a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, dual-zone automatic climate control and steering modes. It will also offer cruise control, push start-stop button, sunroof, all-four-wheel disc brakes and leather upholstery.
