To regain the lead in the subcompact SUV segment, the country’s largest automotive manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) is all set to introduce the newest iteration of its highly successful SUV Brezza. And according to recent sources, some of the dealers of the brand across the nation have already begun taking reservations for the next-generation model.

The dealers are reportedly taking these reservations for sums ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 11,000. The bookings taken by these dealers are unofficial and the company as of yet has not announced the date for the commencement of its official reservations.

Recently the forthcoming Maruti Brezza was spotted during a commercial shoot completely undisguised and it revealed a ton of new design elements for the SUV. On the exterior, the new Brezza has been upgraded and refreshed to 2022 spec to give stiff competition to the likes of the new Nexon and other rivals. From the recent spy photos, the all-new 2022 Marut Brezza will get a new chrome grille and all-LED headlight units that are significantly slimmer than before. The bumpers of the new sub-4m small SUV have also been changed. The redesigned bumpers and headlights give the SUV a completely new and modern appearance.

In terms of its side profile, it keeps the same proportions as the existing model, but it does get a pair of freshly designed alloy wheels. These are the most aggressive-looking alloy wheels that we’ve ever seen on a Maruti Suzuki vehicle. The rear receives sleek wraparound taillights similar to the front, and the dual-tone paint job will be standard on the higher-end variants, as it was previously.

Although we are yet to see the 2022 Maruti Suzuki Brezza’s interior, we can expect a long list of upgrades. The existing interior layout of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza will be replaced with a new and modern layout. The new design will include elements such as a free-standing touchscreen infotainment system that we have seen in the new Baleno. It will be bigger than the present Smartplay Studio system and operate on a whole new operating system with additional display modes.

The instrument cluster of the new Brezza will not feature a full-TFT screen, but it will have a tiny TFT screen for the MID. Single-zone automated temperature control, push start-stop button, e-SIM based connected car features, wireless charger, paddle shifters for automatic transmission variations, and a single-pane sunroof, which is a first for a Maruti Suzuki vehicle, are among the features that have been verified.

In terms of the SUV’s powertrain, Maruti Suzuki is anticipated to stick with the 1.5-litre four-cylinder normally aspirated petrol engine. The engine produces 105 horsepower and 138 Nm of maximum torque in its present mild-hybrid configuration. Although Maruti Suzuki is expected to tune this engine with better power and torque outputs as well as efficiency numbers in order to compete with its direct competitors’ more powerful turbo-petrol engine alternatives.

As the 2022 Maruti Suzuki Brezza will see a significant bump in features, design and quality, the price of the SUV will also increase proportionally. The new Brezza will be priced to compete directly with the more expensive products in the market, such as the Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Nexon, and Hyundai Venue, with a price range of Rs 8-12.5 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
