Kia launches it’s first electric car Kia EV6 in India

South Korean automaker Kia has launched its first electric car ‘Kia EV6’ in India today. The car is brought to India as a completely built unit (CBU) and is limited to only 100 units (for 2022). The bookings of the Kia EV6 had started from May 26 across 12 cities in India through 15 select dealerships.
Price and variants
The Kia EV6 has been launched at a starting price of Rs 59.95 lakh and goes up to Rs 64.95 lakh. Users can book the car by paying a token amount of Rs 3 lakh. The bookings of Kia EV6 can be made through the official website of Kia (Kia India) as well as in dealerships. India gets two variants of the EV6 in India- GT and GT-Line.
Battery and Power
The Kia EV6 is offered with a 77.4 kWh Battery pack along with a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) or all-wheel-drive (AWD). The GT is the RWD variant while the GT-Line is the AWD variant. The RWD variant of the Kia EV6 produces 229hp of power and 350Nm of torque. On the other hand, the AWD variant of the Kia EV6 produces 327hp of power and 605Nm of torque.
In terms of charging, the Kia EV6 gets the option for two types of charging- 50kW and 350kW. The 50kW charging can charge the battery from 10 percent to 80 percent in 73 minutes. On the other hand, there is an option for 350kW fast charging too. In this mode, users can charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 18 minutes, claimed Kia. On a single charge, the Kia EV6 GT offers a range of 528kms on a full charge. However, the Kia EV6 GT-Line gets a range of 425km on a full charge.
The Kia EV6 gets three driving modes that allow the driver to use the car according to his/ her driving conditions. The driving modes on the EV6 are Normal, Sport and Eco. The car also gets a smart regenerative braking feature.
Features
The important features that are available in the Kia EV6 GT is Augmented Reality, a pair of 12.3-inch screens, a Heads-up Display, 14-speaker Meridian sound system, connected car tech, electronically adjustable front seats, etc. Major feature on the Kia EV6 includes a sunroof, rain-sensing wipers, smartphone wireless charger, Rear defogger, 60:40 remote folding rear seats etc.
Safety
When it comes to safety, the Kia EV6 GT offers a plethora of safety features. The safety features on the EV6 include ADAS features like lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitor, and forward collision assist. Other safety features include eight air bags, hill hold assist, ABS (Anti-lock Brake System), ESC (Electronic Stability Control), HAC (Hill-start Assist Control), MCBA (Multi Collision Brake Assist), Front & Rear Parking sensors, ISOFIX Child Anchor, Manual Speed Limit Assist (MSLA) and Euro NCAP.
Competitors
Currently, the Kia EV6 does not have any competitors in the Indian market. However, it will have its competitors after Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Volvo XC40 Recharge launches in India.
