Mahindra to start the production of Scorpio N from June

Mahindra is all set to launch one of its popular SUV- Scorpio N in India this month. The Indian manufacturer will start the production of the facelift version of Scorpio in this month itself. With the launch of Mahindra Scorpio, the car manufacturer will fill the gap between the Thar and the XUV700 in India.
The new Mahindra Scorpio N SUV will be launched on 27th June in India. However, the company (Mahindra) will not discontinue the current generation of the Scorpio. Rather the current generation of Mahindra Scorpio will be sold as a ‘Scorpio Classic’. The new Scorpio will be introduced with some minor changes over the current generation. However, the Scorpio N will be an updgrade to the regular Scorpio model.
In terms of design, the Mahindra Scorpio N will be beefier than the current generation of Scorpio. The Scorpio N has a refreshed design at the the front. The Scorpio N has a 6 vertical slat grille and new LED projector headlamps. The rear of the Scorpio will be almost same as that of the current generation. However, the rear LED lamps are new.
In terms of engine, the Mahindra Scorpio N will be offered with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol and a 2.2-litre diesel engine. The 2.0-litre turbo-petrol variant mStallion engine will offer 170 PS of maximum power. On the other hand, the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine will offer 130PS or 160PS power depending on the variant.
Even though the Thar and XUV700 are offered with the same engines as the upcoming Mahindra Scorpio N, the engines are differently tuned. The 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine on the Thar produces 130PS while on the XUV700, it produces 155PS/185PS. However, when it comes to 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, it produces 200PS power.
The price of the Mahindra Scorpio N is expected to be between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 15 lakh. When it comes to the competitors, the Scorpio N will rival the SUVs like Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Kia Seltos etc.
