How Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal’s wife is linked with Elon Musk’s Twitter takeover

New Delhi: Days after the Twitter board accepted Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s offer to buy the microblogging site, a new name has cropped up and is linked to the $44 billion Twitter deal. Vineeta Agarwala, the wife of Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal, has now become the centre of headlines as her name is being linked to the acquisition.

Vineeta’s role a general partner at Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), a top US VC firm which has agreed to pay $400 million as part of Musk‘s new $7.1 billion financing commitments, is set to create a conflict of interest.

Her role entails leading investments for the firm’s bio and health fund across therapeutics, life sciences tools/diagnostics, and digital health, with a focus on companies leveraging unique datasets to improve drug development and patient care delivery.

The company is also one of the biggest backers of Facebook (now Meta).

Who is Vineeta Agarwala?

A Bachelor of Science in biophysics from Stanford University, and MD and PhD degrees from Harvard Medical School/MIT, Vineeta has working in the healthcare space before joining a16z. She was a physician taking care of patients, an operator at healthtech startups and as a venture investor on the Google Ventures life sciences team.

While Vineeta continues to see patients at Stanford as an adjunct clinical professor in the Division of Primary Care and Population Health, she has also served on a number of portfolio company boards, including BigHat Biosciences, GC Therapeutics, Memora Health, Thyme Care, Pearl Health, and Waymark.

Moreover, the Twitter CEO’s wife was an early data scientist at Kyruus, a management consultant for biotech, pharmaceutical, and medical device clients at McKinsey & Co; and a director of product management at Flatiron Health.

Vineeta and Parag are parents to son named Ansh and the couple is based in San Francisco, California.

Meanwhile, since Musk’s takeover of Twitter, rumours are rife that the CEO of the microblogging site might change. The Tesla chief is likely to temporarily take up the position of chief executive at Twitter once the $44-billion takeover is complete, according to Reuters. Parag Agrawal, who was named Twitter’s CEO in November, is expected to remain in his role until the sale of the company to Musk is completed.
