What it could look like

Toyota seems to be working on a new generation of Innova. They recently registered the “Innova Hycross” name which leads us to believe that they will be using this name for the upcoming MPV. A test mule of the Innova Hycross has already been spotted in Indonesia and in India as well. Here, we have a render of the upcoming Innova Hycross.

The render is done by Andra Febrian Design and it is shared on their Instagram page. The rendering is done digitally and is based on the artist’s imagination and a spy video. The final product by Toyota will look a bit different from the render.

From the render, we can see that the headlamps seem to be inspired by the Fortuner. They are sleek, will have a LED Daytime Running Lamp and a projector setup. There is also a strip in the bumper which should is expected to be the turn indicator. The bumper is relatively simple but you can see some elements of the existing Innova Crysta in the grille. It gets a black surround onto which the creases of the bumper meet.

The side profile is still pretty simple just like the current Innova Crysta. The artist has equipped the render with window visors. It does have accentuated wheel arches with black plastic cladding. Moreover, there are 5-spoke alloy wheels finished in dark silver. They are similar to the ones found on the test mule.

The artist has not rendered the rear profile but we have already seen the rear of the test mule. It came with a flat tailgate with a split tail lamp setup. The tail lamps do look larger than the current Innova Crysta. The test mule was equipped with LED tail lamps whereas the current Innova Crysta gets a halogen setup. There was a rear wiper with washer, a high mounted stop lamp and a rear defogger.

Considering the name “Hycross”, Toyota might give some kind of hybrid technology to the Innova Crysta. It will help in increasing fuel efficiency and reducing emissions. If this does happen then the Toyota logo will get a blue halo around it. Toyota does this with its hybrid vehicles.

Currently, Toyota offers the Innova Crysta with a 2.7-litre petrol engine and a 2.4-litre diesel engine. The petrol engine produces 166 Ps of max power and 245 Nm of peak torque whereas the diesel engine produces 150 Ps of max power and 360 Nm of peak torque. Both the engines are offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. There is a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission offer as well.

The price of the Innova Crysta starts at Rs. 17.86 lakhs ex-showroom and goes up to Rs. 25.68 lakhs ex-showroom. It does not really have a direct competitor. There are Kia Carens, Maruti Suzuki XL6 and Mahindra Marazzo in the lower segment and in the higher segment, there is Kia Carnival.
