Mahindra Bolero
Starting price – Rs 8.99 lakh (ex-showroom)

The Mahindra Bolero is the cheapest 7-seater SUV you can currently purchase in the Indian market. The Mahindra workhorse continues to be the homegrown manufacturer’s best-selling product in the country, and is extremely popular in rural areas and Tier 2/3 cities. Mahindra currently offers the Bolero in three variants, namely B4, B6, and B6 (O), priced at Rs 8.99 lakh, Rs 9.79 lakh, and Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively.
The equipment on offer with the utilitarian SUV includes keyless entry, a digitsed instrument cluster, Bluetooth-enabled music system with AUX and USB connectivity, air conditioning, power steering, ABS with EBD, dual frontal airbags, rear parking sensors, and a high-speed alert system. The 1.5-litre mHawk 75 engine on the Bolero produces 75 PS and 210 Nm, mated to a 5-speed MT only.
Mahindra Bolero Neo
Starting price – Rs 8.99 lakh (ex-showroom)

The Bolero Neo is a modern alternative to the Bolero, aimed at further increasing the nameplate’s popularity with a range of premium features over the regular Bolero. Priced between Rs 8. 99 – 11.33 lakh (ex-showroom), the Bolero Neo gets two jump seats behind the second-row. It is offered with a sole 1.5-litre diesel engine that puts out 100 PS and 260 Nm, mated to a 5-speed MT.
On the feature front, the Bolero Neo comes equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, keyless entry, LED DRLs, alloy wheels, a semi-digital instrument cluster, and also a mechanical locking differential (top-end trim only).
Mahindra Scorpio
Starting price – Rs 13.18 lakh (ex-showroom)

While Mahindra has been testing the new-gen Scorpio in India since as long as we can remember, the current-gen version continues to live on and still posts good sales numbers for the company month in, month out. Currently priced from Rs 13.18 lakh to Rs 18.14 lakh (ex-showroom), the Scorpio is the third most affordable seven-seater SUV in the country.
Powering the Scorpio is a 2.2-litre mHawk four-cylinder diesel engine that belts out 120 PS & 280 Nm in the entry-level variant, and 140 PS & 319 Nm on the rest. The Scorpio can only be had with a manual transmission for now. Features on offer include LED DRLs, alloy wheels, cruise control, automatic climate control, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth and AUX connectivity, auto headlights, etc.
Mahindra XUV700
Starting price – Rs 15.53 lakh (ex-showroom)

The Mahindra XUV700 is available with both 5-seat and 7-seat layouts, the latter being offered from the AX3 variant onwards with the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine, and AX5 onwards on the 2.0-litre mStallion turbo petrol motor. The former puts out 200 PS/380 Nm, while the is available in two states of tune – 155 PS/360 Nm and 185 PS/420 Nm (450 Nm with AT).
The transmission duties are taken care of by a 6-speed manual gearbox, as well as an optional 6-speed AT. Also on offer with the diesel engine is an optional AWD configuration. The 7-seat SUV gets tons of features like a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a similarly sized digital driver’s display, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, a 360-degree camera, ADAS tech and so on.
MG Hector Plus
Starting price – Rs 16.14 lakh (ex-showroom)

The Hector Plus is the only non-Mahindra car on this list, with the MG SUV currently available with both 6- and 7-seat configurations. The MG Hector Plus can be had with either a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine that makes 143 PS of max power and 250 Nm of peak torque, or a 2.0-litre diesel unit putting out 170 PS and 350 Nm. The 7-seat variants can only be had with a 6-speed manual transmission, while the 6-seat variants also get an optional CVT auto.
10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless phone charger, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, rain-sensing wipers, powered tailgate, 8-colour ambient lighting, and much more. The MG Hector Plus SUV is currently priced between Rs 16.14 lakh and Rs 20.74 lakh (ex-showroom).
