Toyota Hilux and Toyota Fortuner compared in detail

Toyota recently announced the price for the Hilux pick-up truck in India. It was one of the anticipated product from Toyota in India and it received an overwhelming response from the buyers too. Price for Toyota Hilux starts at Rs 31.39 lakh, ex-showroom and it competes with Isuzu V-Cross which is a popular pick-up in India. The booking s for Toyota Hilux had already started and the all-new pick-up has already started reaching dealerships. Toyota is expected to deliver the Hilux to customers soon. Here we have a video where a vlogger compares Toyota Hilux and Fortuner in detail.

The video has been uploaded by Team Car Delight on their YouTube channel. In this video vlogger talks about all the differences between Fortuner and Hilux. He starts with the exterior, then talks about the engine and then the interiors. The exterior design of the Toyota Fortuner and Hilux and different from each other. Both vehicles are based on the same platform but, they have a different design. Toyota Fortuner gets a sharp and sleek looking premium design while the Hilux gets a bulky utilitarian design that goes well with the overall character.

The headlamps on both the vehicles are projector LED headlamps. Both vehicles get LED DRLs but they are different in design. The LED fog lamps are placed on the bumper of Fortuner gets dynamic turn indicators. Coming to the side profile, both Fortuner and Hilux get similar sized wheels. The overall length of Hilux is more than Fortuner as it has bed at the rear. Fortuner is however slightly taller than Hilux. At the rear, Toyota Hilux gets LED tail lamps and so does Toyota Fortuner. The design of the tail lamps however is different in both the vehicles. Toyota offers electrically opening tailgate for Fortuner while the same is not available for Hilux.

Toyota Fortuner is available with both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol version is powered by 2.7 litre engine and the diesel verison uses 2.8 litre turbo diesel engine that generates 201 Bhp and a maximum of 500 Nm of peak torque. Both petrol and diesel are available with manual and automatic transmission. Only the diesel version gets 4WD feature. Toyota Hilux on the other hand is offered with a diesel engine only and it comes with 4×4 option as standard. This pick-up is also available with manual and automatic transmission. the diesel engine used in Hilux is the same as seen on Fortuner.

Before moving in, both Fortuner and Hilux similar looking key fobs. The only difference is the absence of tailgate unlock switch on Hilux. Moving in, both Hilux and Toyota Fortuner have almost similar looking cabin. There is a multi-function steering wheel, cruise control, touchscreen infotainment screen, leather upholstery and so on. Hilux gets halogen cabin lights in comparison to the LED units in Fortuner. It also misses out on feature like electrically adjustable co-passenger seat. The rear seats are spacious and the AC vents are placed behind the driver armrest, in comparison to the roof mounted units in Fortuner. The seats cannot be reclined in Hilux like in Fortuner.
