Billionaire Elon Musk on Monday spontaneously gushed about his admiration for Indian monuments. Recalling his visit to India in 2007, he described the Taj Mahal as “truly a wonder of the world”.

Musk, the world’s richest man, said this in response to a tweet by a Twitter handle called History Defined, which pointed out the “amazing facade detail” seen at the Red Fort in Agra.

Agreeing with the post, Musk tweeted, “It is amazing. I visited in 2007 and also saw the Taj Mahal, which truly is a wonder of the world.”

The tweet set off a buzz among Indian Twitterati, who wondered if another trip to India is on Musk’s cards.

Interestingly, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO’s mother, Maye Musk, replied to his tweet by sharing a personal anecdote.

She wrote: “In 1954 your grandparents went to see the Taj Mahal on their way from South Africa to Australia. The single-engined propeller aircraft were the only people to make this journey without a radio or GPS. His motto was “Live dangerously but with caution.”

A day earlier, Elon Musk kicked off a storm on social media by posting a speculative tweet over the possibility of his death under “mysterious circumstances”.

“If I die under mysterious circumstances, it’s been nice knowin ya,” he said.

To this, his mother chided, “It’s not funny!”

According to Forbes, Musk is the world’s richest person with an estimated net worth of $273.6 billion. Last month, he bought social networking giant Twitter in a multi-billion-dollar deal.
