Commercial LPG price slashed by Rs 135 per cylinder

Oil marketing companies (OMC) have reduced the price of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder by around Rs 135 with immediate effect from today that is Tuesday. In the national capital, the price of the 19 kg commercial cylinder now is at Rs 2219.00 in Delhi. previously, it’s cost was at Rs 2355.50 per cylinder.
The price cut will also be reflected in other cities. For example, the commercial LPG price was reduced to Rs 2171.50 per cylinder from RS 2,307 in Mumbai. Whereas the cost of commercial LPG is down to Rs 2,322 per cylinder from Rs 2,455 in Kolkata. The customers in Chennai have to shell out Rs 2373 for commercial LPG from today.
Meanwhile, the price of the 14.2-kg LPG cylinder has cut down to Rs 1,003 in the national capital. Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana beneficiaries will get Rs 200 subsidy directly in their bank account and the effective price for them would be Rs 803 per 14.2-kg cylinder.
All users including Ujjwala beneficiaries bought cylinders at market rate as was no subsidy paid on cooking gas since June 2020. The price of the cylinders is currently at Rs 1,003 in Delhi.
According to a price notification of state-owned fuel retailers, Non-subsidised LPG now costs Rs 1,003 per 14.2-kg cylinder in the national capital, instead of Rs 999.50. Since April 2021, prices have risen by Rs 193.5 per cylinder.
India relies on overseas purchases to meet about 85 percent of its oil requirement, making it one of the most vulnerable in Asia to higher oil prices.
Though India has surplus oil refining capacity, but it does not manufacture enough LPG to meet domestic demand and imports significant quantities from nations such as Saudi Arabia.
