Earlier, some images of the 2022 Maruti Suzuki Baleno were leaked, and it has allowed us to take a look at what the upcoming premium hatchback will look like.
As per the leaked images, the 2022 Baleno will have a new look than its predecessor. Almost all body panels of the 2022 Baleno seem to have been redesigned and it looks wider than its predecessor from upfront.
The new Baleno gets L-shaped wraparound headlamps that will get LED daytime running lamps and projector set-up depending on variant. The hood has a clamshell design but seems to be flatter and the newly grille has been redesigned to be much larger and sports a smiley look.
The front and the rear fenders have been redesigned to accommodate new-look head and tail lamps but when viewed from the sides, the new Baleno seems to carry almost a similar look as the outgoing model. The new Baleno sports a new tailgate design at the back with new L-shaped tail lamps, which seems to extend all the way to the tailgate. The hatchback will also get a new bumper.
New interior, new infotainment system
The 2022 Baleno will get a completely redesigned dashboard with a free-standing upgraded infotainment screen in the centre. The infotainment system will feature wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, among some other features. The new Baleno will get a heads up display unit, or HUD.
The top models of the new Baleno will have up to 6 airbag including the driver and passenger airbags along with curtain bags. That means both the front and rear passengers will have the airbags. Higher models could also come with the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) as well.
The new Baleno is expected to be continued to be powered by two 1.2-litre petrol engines – one producing 83hp and another producing 90hp with 12V mild-hybrid technology. There are also rumours about a full-hybrid version of the car. However, we don’t expect it to be introduced with this update.
