With every passing day, the details of the new Maruti Suzuki Brezza are unfolding one by one – some of them are undisclosed officially, while the others are leaked through official sources. Maruti Suzuki already is releasing a string of visual teasers, which are giving a hint of the possible features in the higher-spec variants of the Brezza. Now, we have got our hands on the official type approval certificate of the new Brezza issued by ICAT leaked by Rushlane, which reveals a few crucial technical details of the new sub-four-meter SUV.

Like the current facelifted version of the first-generation Vitara Brezza, the new second-generation Brezza will also be available in seven variants – seven manual and three automatic. The manual variants – LXI, LXI (O), VXI, VXI (O), ZXI, ZXI (O) and ZXI+ – will retain the 5-speed manual transmission of the current version. However, the automatic variants – VXI, ZXI and ZXI – will get a new 6-speed torque converter with paddle shifters. This new automatic gearbox replaces the decade-old 4-speed torque converter in the new model and is the same automatic transmission which recently debuted in the refreshed Ertiga and XL6.

Apart from the transmission, the new Maruti Suzuki Brezza will also share the new 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated K15C Dualjet petrol engine with the refreshed Ertiga and XL6. Here in the Brezza too, this engine has its maximum power output rated at 103 PS, while the peak torque output is 136.8 Nm. The additional battery available in the Smart Hybrid system as standard will also generate an additional power of 3 PS.

The new Maruti Suzuki Brezza retains the 3,995mm length, 1,790mm width and 2,500mm wheelbase of the current-generation Vitara Brezza. However, with a height of 1,685mm, it is around 45mm taller than the current model, which measures 1,640mm tall. The kerb weights of the new Brezza are 1,640 kg for the manual versions and 1,680 kg for the automatic versions.

According to the teasers released by Maruti Suzuki for the upcoming Brezza, the model will get a few new features, thus repositioning it as a more upmarket and better SUV than before. The new model will get a segment-first head-up display, single-pane sunroof, TFT MID in the instrument console, 9-inch Smartplay Pro+ infotainment system with Alexa compatibility, Apple Carplay and Android Auto, 360-degree parking camera and automatic climate control. The unofficial images and details circulating on the web also confirm that the new Brezza will get six airbags, electronic stability control, all-LED headlamps and LED fog lamps and new 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.
