Mechanically, the Dzire will stay the same. So, there will be the 1.2-litre DualJet, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol motor. It produces 89 bhp of max power and 113 Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT.

While running on CNG, the engine would produce 72 bhp of max power and 91 Nm of peak torque. It is normal for petrol engines to produce less power and torque while running on CNG. Dzire CNG would come only with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The boot space of the Dzire CNG will be less than the regular Dzire. This is because the CNG tank will be placed in the boot so it will rob some space away. The regular Dzire has a boot space of 378 litres. The suspension is expected to be retuned to handle the additional weight of the CNG tank. Moreover, Maruti Suzuki says that they also pay special attention to safety and they also work on brakes and chassis. They also crash test and evaluate the CNG vehicles.

Moreover, the wiring of the CNG system is integrated with the vehicle’s wiring. So, there are no chances of short circuits. Maruti Suzuki uses stainless steel for the pipes and joints. This ensures that they do not corrode or leak. A switch has also been installed that helps in automatic and seamless switching between the fuel options. Another switch ensures that the vehicle cannot start during the process of CNG filling. Maruti Suzuki continues to offer factory warranty with the S-CNG vehicles. Having said that, the Dzire CNG won’t be able to start on CNG like Tata Tigor and Tiago can do.

Other Maruti Suzuki CNG vehicles

Maruti Suzuki currently has the longest line-up of CNG vehicles. They have the S-Presso, Eeco, Celerio, WagonR and Ertiga. For commercial purposes, they have the Super Carry and Tour S.
