As of now, Kia has not announced which version will they bring to India. However, it is expected that they will bring a single fully loaded variant that is on sale in the global markets. The equipment level and the components will be the same ones that Kia is offering in global markets. We have already spotted the EV6 on our Indian roads and Kia had made no changes to it. It was spotted in the Steel Matte Gray paint scheme. We do not know what colours will Kia bring to India.

The EV6 is the first electric car from Kia to launch in India. The manufacturer announced that they will be launching 7 electric vehicles in India by 2027. Recently, they also announced a small affordable electric vehicle which could be the electric version of the Sonet compact SUV. This is because the Sonet is currently the most affordable vehicle that Kia offers in our country.

The EV6 is based on Hyundai’s e-GMP platform which stands for Electric Global Modular Platform. It is an electric skateboard platform which means that the wheels are placed on the corners and the floor is used for storing batteries. Hyundai is also using the same platform for its IONIQ 5 which has also been spotted on our Indian roads and will be launching in the coming months.

Because the platform is developed specifically for electric vehicles, it does not have any transmission tunnel. This helps in increasing the legroom and knee room for the occupants sitting on the rear seat. The e-GMP platform can also be used for producing different kinds of body styles and they can also change the battery size according to the need of the vehicle. The wheelbase of the EV6 is 2,900 mm.

The design of the EV6 is one of the highlights. It looks very aggressive and has a very sharp front end.  The side panels are simple and there are massive wheel arches. Just like the front, the rear of the EV6 also has a unique design. It is a hatchback and there is a sleek LED tail lamp. The design of the EV6 is based on Kia’s new design philosophy that they call ‘Opposites United’.
