With the increasing number of electric scooters in the Indian market, it seems like Honda is also ready to join the bandwagon. After Honda was spotted testing a new electric scooter – Benly e last year with a test registration number, here is the first instance of the same model spotted with a green registration number.

Will Honda bring the new Benly e to the Indian market? Well, that’s difficult to say. The scooter by Dismotech is registered to Honda Motorcycles and Scooter India. However, it is registered in Karnataka’s Jayanagar. Honda’s new initiative in India – Honda Power Pack Energy India is located in the same region.

It seems like Honda Power Pack Energy India is testing the battery packs in the Benly e. The imported scooter is powered by Honda Mobile Power Pack lithium-ion batteries. Honda’s new vertical has partnered with various establishments like Hindustan Petrol Corporation Limited and Bengaluru Metro to establish battery swapping stations.

The swapping stations will work to offer battery packs to electric two and three-wheeler vehicles. While Honda Power Pack India is yet to start its services in India, the organisation revealed that the services may start on the first of 2022. Honda might be close to the launch of services.

The Benly e is a commercial electric scooter. Remember the Honda Cliq? The Benly e is a similar commercial scooter aimed at the delivery businesses. The scooter is designed to carry as much cargo as possible safely and also offers swappable battery technology that ensures almost zero downtime.

The Benly e scooter was spotted testing in India last year at the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI). The scooter can carry up to 60 kg of load. It also gets provision to attach a basket at the front apron. The scooter gets LED light, a charging socket, and a digital instrument cluster.

The electric scooter is available with various battery packs and options in the international markets. Honda offers a 2.8 kW electric motor with the base version while the more powerful versions get the 4.2 kW electric motor. All the variants have two swappable 48V batteries. It

That question remains unanswered for now. Honda is also yet to make a formal announcement on the arrival of the Benly e to the Indian market.
