What they could look like

It’s no secret that Mahindra is prepping three new electric SUV concepts under its ‘Born Electric’ program. These new SUVs will depict the visions of Mahindra for the future of electric mobility in India, and what people can expect once Mahindra decides to launch them in their production guise. For now, what’s confirmed is that these new Born Electric SUV concepts will make their global debut on 15th August 2022.

Mahindra Born Electric SUVs: What they could look like

Mahindra has already released a few teasers of these SUVs, out of which one will be a compact SUV, one will be a midsize SUV and one will be a coupe SUV. Based on the slight hint of the front profile of one of the SUVs, we have come across a design rendering by Genx Designs which gives a hint of how the SUV will look from the front, once it hits production floors.

The design rendering shows that the SUV will have an upright front profile, which is accentuated with large and vertically-aligned C-shaped daytime running LEDs on the extreme corners. These large LED DRLs are adjoined by an additional strip of daytime running LED at the top, across the width of the front profile. Just below this LED light bar, the new ‘twin-peaks’ logo of Mahindra is placed. There are trapezoidal clear lens elements within the C-shaped daytime running LEDs, which can be the all-LED headlamps.

At the bottom of the front profile, the new SUV will have a blacked-out lower lip, which houses thin strips of LED fog lamps on its corners. The design rendering also shows that the new electric SUV will have a conventional raked front windscreen, muscular bonnet with slanted haunches on the sides and angular outside rear view mirrors.

Official teasers are out

The official teasers of these all-electric SUV concepts have also revealed some of their highlights, which include sharp-looking body panels, rectangular steering wheel, horizontally-laid fully-digital instrument console, squared wheel arches, double-bubble roof spoiler and side body cladding.

For now, only some of the design highlights of the new concepts are available, though Mahindra might reveal more technical specifications at the time of their global unveil on 15th August. What’s confirmed is that the new ‘Born Electric’ SUVs will have an all-new skateboard platform for optimal packaging of battery and a flat floor inside the cabin.

The production versions of these three new ‘Born Electric’ SUVs are among the six all-electric SUVs that will be a part of the nine new SUV lineup that Mahindra has already confirmed to launch by 2026. The first all-electric SUV to come out of this program is the all-new Mahindra XUV400, which is a battery-electric version based on the XUV300 platform.
