Urban Cruiser to Land Cruiser

Toyota is known to launch new products slowly and steadily. They also release fewer products but then they are known for immense reliability and low cost of maintenance. Because of the partnership with Maruti Suzuki and the launch of the Fortuner Facelift, we are now seeing more of their vehicles on our roads. The manufacturer is not stopping here, they are working on more cars and SUVs that will be launched in our Indian market.

Toyota Urban Cruiser

Maruti Suzuki is working on launching the new generation of Brezza in the Indian market soon. It is expected to launch around June. After that, Toyota will launch its version which is called Urban Cruiser. Toyota will make some changes to the Brezza. The bumpers could be revised with a more sporty look and the grille could be similar to the other Toyota vehicles. There could be some colours that will be offered only with the Urban Cruiser. Moreover, there could be a different colour theme for the cabin. The alloy wheels would also be different. The engine would be the same 1.5-litre K12C engine that recently debuted on the XL6 and Ertiga. It produces 103 PS and 137 Nm. Transmission options would be a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox with paddle shifters mounted behind the steering wheel.

Toyota Land Cruiser 

The bookings of the Land Cruiser were opened back in February and now they are closed. The deliveries of the flagship SUV are expected to start in August. We will be getting the 3.3-litre diesel V6 version which produces 305 hp of max power and 700 Nm of peak torque. It will come mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. The new Land Cruiser weighs 200 kgs less than the previous version. Being a Land Crusier, there will be a lot of off-road equipment on offer.

Toyota D22 mid-size SUV

Toyota is working on a new mid-size SUV with Maruti Suzuki. It will be going against other mid-size SUVs like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos etc. The manufacturer has already started trial production of the new SUV. It has been codenamed D22 and will be launching around the festive season this year. It will come with a split headlamp setup with a grille looking similar to the one found on the new Glanza. There will be two engines on offer. The lower output one will have a mild-hybrid system while the more powerful engine will be a strong hybrid.

Toyota Belta

Last year, Toyota filed a trademark “Belta” name and started selling rebadged Ciaz in the foreign market. However, till now, they have not launched the Belta in the Indian market despite filing a trademark for the name. It might happen that Maruti Suzuki also updates the Ciaz with the new K12C DualJet engine and then Toyota launches the Belta in the Indian market.

Toyota Rumion

Toyota also rebadged the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and sold it as Rumion in South Africa. They did not change anything to the Ertiga and simply sold it as a rebadged vehicle. However, if Rumion makes its way to India then it would get the new K12C engine that debuted on the Ertiga facelift.
