Upcoming Cars and SUVs that will launch by May 2022

2022 is a big year, we have already seen many launches till now and we will be seeing many in the coming months. Here, we have a list of vehicles that will be launching by May 2022.
Volkswagen Virtus
Volkswagen will be launching the Virtus on June 9th. The manufacturer has already revealed the new mid-size sedan globally. It is a sister model of the Skoda Slavia and will be sharing a lot of equipment with it. Virtus will be launched in two trim levels, there would be Dynamic Line and Performance Line. There would be two petrol engine options on offer, a 1.0-litre TSI and a 1.5-litre TSI.

Honda City Hybrid
Honda will be unveiling the City Hybrid on April 14th. They have already started releasing teasers of the new sedan. It will be the only hybrid sedan in the segment and the most fuel-efficient sedan. The City Hybrid will come with a 1.5-litre petrol engine with two electric motors. The car will come mated to an e-CVT automatic transmission only. The boot size of the sedan will be reduced because of the additional batteries.
Jeep Meridian
Jeep Meridian is a three-door version of the Compass. However, it is easily differentiable when compared to the Compass. It is wider, taller and has a longer wheelbase. The design of the interior is more or less the same but it now gets a brown theme and new upholstery. The Meridian will come with the same 2.0-litre diesel engine. There would be a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 9-speed automatic transmission on offer. Jeep Meridian is expected to launch sometime in May.
Tata Nexon EV Long-range
Tata is working on a long-range version of the Nexon EV and it is expected to launch on April 20th. The size of the battery pack will go up from 30.2 kWh to 40 kWh. The ARAI claimed range is expected to go up from 312 km to 400 km. It would also come with rear disc brakes, an Electronic Stability Program, adjustable regeneration, cruise control and reduced boot space.
Maruti Suzuki XL6
Maruti will be launching the XL6 on April 21st respectively. The MPV will now come with a new generation of the touchscreen infotainment system and there could be some minor changes to the interior also. The biggest change will be to the engine and the gearbox. There is a new K12C DualJet VVT engine that produces 115 PS of max power. Then there would be the new 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission that will be replacing the current 4-speed torque converter unit.
Kia EV6
Kia is working on launching its first electric vehicle in the Indian market by May 2022. It is based on the e-GMP platform. Kia will be importing the fully loaded version of the EV6 for the Indian market because of which it will come through the CBU route. This means it will be priced on the higher side. Depending on the variant, the power output ranges between 170 PS to 585 PS.
Hyundai Venue Facelift/Venue N Line
Hyundai has started testing the Venue Facelift and the Venue N Line on our Indian roads. It is expected to launch by May 2022. The Venue Facelift will come with a new parametric grille, redesigned tail lamps, new alloy wheels and some new features as well. Hyundai is also testing the N Line version of the Venue, it would come with N Line specific upgrades just like we get on the i20 N Line.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno CNG/Toyota Glanza CNG
Toyota has already confirmed that there will be a CNG version of the Glanza that will be called E-CNG. It will return a fuel efficiency of 25 kmpl. This means that Maruti Suzuki will also be launching the Baleno with a CNG powertrain. Maruti will call their version S-CNG like they do with their other factory-fitted CNG vehicles. The power and torque outputs will be decreased while running on CNG. Both the vehicles can launch by the end of May.
Skoda Kushaq Monte Carlo
Skoda is working on a Monte Carlo version of the Kushaq. It is expected to launch sometime in April and the price can be announced by the end of this month. It gets Monte Carlo specific cosmetic changes that make the SUV look more sporty and there would be some additional features as well. It is expected to be sold with both engines.
Maruti Suzuki 2022 Brezza
Maruti Suzuki will be updating the Brezza finally. It will be a heavy facelift so it will come with an all-new exterior and the interior will be redone as well. There would also be plenty of new features on offer also. For instance, a new instrument cluster, electric sunroof, multi-function steering wheel, paddle shifters, new touchscreen infotainment system etc. Maruti Suzuki will also give a new 1.5-litre DualJet VVT petrol engine and a new 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
