Tracee Ellis Ross has become an ambassador for a partnership championing Black women entrepreneurs.
According to a press release, H&M will carry on its collaboration with Buy From a Black Woman. The nonprofit, created in 2016 by Nikki Porcher, is on a mission to ensure Black women excel in their entrepreneurship journey by providing educational programs, an online directory, and funding, its website states.
On the other hand, H&M plans to donate $250,000 toward the nonprofit and sponsor the Buy From a Black Woman Inspire Tour that will spotlight various businesses across the nation.
“I feel like part of what’s happening here with H&M and Buy From a Black Woman is this really authentic way to bring attention to Black female entrepreneurs,” Ross told ESSENCE.
Tracee Ellis Ross Is A Natural
Joining forces with Ross on the effort seems to have been a no-brainer. The Hollywood actress has consistently kept Black women at the center of her work through her iconic television roles, the launch of her Pattern Beauty haircare line designed for coily textures, and more recently, leading a discussion alongside Porcher and members of the Buy From a Black Woman organization about the difficulties and triumph Black women face in their business journey.
“I am proud to help support Buy From a Black Woman and the incredible network of business owners they’ve brought together,” said Ross, according to a press release. “Black women and their contributions are often overlooked, which is why it’s crucial for us to come together to build, strengthen and create our own opportunities for success.”
“It’s hard to describe in words what it means to have Tracee Ellis Ross as an ambassador for Buy From A Black Woman. This year we are celebrating and showing the world that Black Women are living examples. I couldn’t think of a better example to help us spread our message of just how important it is to buy from and support Black Women Business Owners better than Ms. Ross. We are truly honored to work with her and to continue our partnership with H&M,” said Porcher, according to a press release.
