India’s largest automotive event ‘Auto Expo’ is scheduled for 2023 (January) and we are all excited for it. Cars from various manufacturers that are expected to launch in the future are usually showcased in the Auto Expo. The Auto Expo 2022 was cancelled by the organisers of the event due to Covid-19 scare. Indian car manufacturers like Maruti Suzuki and Mahindra along with foreign car manufacturers like Hyundai, Skoda and Kia will be presenting their upcoming cars in the Expo 2023.

Here is a list of important cars that we are excited for in the 2023 Auto Expo.

Mahindra Thar 5-Door

The Mahindra Thar (2nd generation) is selling like hotcakes in India. Since, its launch in 2020, the off-road vehicle has been a dream car for many and the waiting period for it has ranged up to 1 year at some parts of the country. The 5-Door version of the popular SUV is expected to be available in 2023 or later.

The powertrain of the car is expected to be the same. However, the seating and luggage carrying capacity of the car will be more than the regular Thar. The Mahindra Thar 5-door version is expected to have larger wheel base than the current version. The current 3-door model of the SUV has a length of 3,985mm and a wheelbase of 2450mm. It is powered by a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine or a 2-litre Stallion petrol engine.

The engine is paired with a 5-speed manual/ AMT transmission option. The ARAI fuel economy of the Baleno is 22.35 kmpl/ 22.94 kmpl depending on manual or automatic variants.

The Hyundai Creta has been one of the popular SUVs sold in India in a budget of Rs 15 lakh. We expect the new Hyundai Creta to receive a design change (inspired from the Tucson). However, the engine of the current generation of the Creta is expected to be retrieved in the next generation.

In terms of engine, the Hyundai Creta diesel engine is 1493 cc while petrol engine is offered in 1497cc and 1353cc. The fuel tank capacity of the SUV is 50 litres while the boot space is 433 litres.
