The Tata Nexon EV Max joins the standard version but arrives with more power and a bigger battery
Tata Motors has launched the long-range version of the Nexon EV, dubbed as the Tata Nexon EV Max. The new variant is priced from ₹ 17.74 lakh, going up to ₹ 19.24 lakh (ex-showroom,. Delhi). The model gets an upgraded 40.5 kWh battery pack with a claimed range of over 437 km. The model has also seen several upgrades on the feature front including changes to the cabin, centre console as well as more safety and tech onboard. The new Nexon EV MAX will be available in two trims – XZ+ and XZ+ Lux. It’s available in 3 colours – Intensi-Teal (exclusive to the Nexon EV Max), Daytona Grey and Pristine White. The dual-tone colour will be standard.

Visually, the new long-range Tata Nexon EV Max will largely remain identical to the regular model, however, and we see the addition of a ‘Max’ badge on the EV. Do note that the Nexon EV Max will be sold alongside the standard version. The cabin remains largely unchanged but gets an updated centre console featuring a new rotary dial with a display unit that shows you the mode you are in and other features. There’s also the new jewel knob with Active Mode display, new Makarana beige interiors, leatherette seats with ventilation for front passengers, air purifier, wireless charging, auto-dimming IRVM and cruise control.
The Nexon EV Max gets 3 driving modes – Eco, City and Sport and gets eight new features on the upgraded ZConnect 2.0 connected car technology. The ZConnect app offers 48 connected car features. This will help in attaining deeper drive analytics and diagnostics. The add-on feature list covers a smartwatch integration, auto/manual DTC check, monthly vehicle reports, enhanced drive analytics, etc. Tata has also introduced the Multi-Mode Regen feature that comes with four regen levels based on the driving conditions: The SUV comes with auto brake lamps as well and is activated once a certain level of regen has been achieved.
Equipped with a 40.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, the Nexon EV Max offers 33 per cent higher battery capacity, delivering an ARAI certified range of 437 km (under standard testing conditions). In comparison, the standard Nexon EV offers a range of 312 km on a single charge. The Nexon EV Max produces 141 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque. The company claims a 0-100 kmph sprint time under 9 seconds. The new offering is about 100 kg heavier with about 70 kg of the weight coming from the bigger battery alone.
Tata has also improved the charging time on the Nexon EV Max that will be available with options of a 3.3 kW charger or a 7.2 kW AC fast charger. The 7.2 kW AC fast charger can be installed either at home or at work. This helps reduce the charging time to 6.5 hours. The Nexon EV MAX also supports a faster charging time of 0-80 per cent in just 56 mins from any 50 kW DC fast charger.

On the safety front, the Nexon EV Max is equipped with features like ESP with i-VBAC (intelligent – Vacuum-less Boost & Active Control), Hill Hold, Hill Descent Control, and disc brakes on all wheels, and an electronic parking brake function with auto vehicle hold. Tata is offering an 8 years/160,000 km warranty on the motor and battery pack aimed to offer a peaceful ownership experience.
