Suzuki Swift Sport spotted at Mumbai airport
[ad_1]
Maruti Suzuki Swift is one of the most popular hatchbacks in India. Suzuki also sells a sportier hot hatchback version of the Swift called Swift Sport in the international market. The Swift Sport has been spotted quite a few times in India and it makes enthusiasts curious whether the official launch is on cards or not. The sporty hatchback has been spotted once again. This time it was spotted at Mumbai airport.
The pictures are clicked by Yashraj and are shared on Instagram by Car Crazy India. From the images, we can see that it is clearly the international-spec Swift Sport. For some reason, the badge on the front grille and alloy wheel’s hubs have been removed.
It is being said that the Swift Sport could be a private import or it is in transit to some other country. Having said that, there is a very small chance that it is a private import because it would attract heavy taxes. There is also a chance that this is the same Suzuki Swift Sport that was spotted two years ago at Delhi airport. It could happen that Maruti Suzuki might have imported the hot hatchback for research and development purposes and now they are sending it back.

The Swift Sport gets an aggressive body kit. It gets different front and rear bumpers. There is also a black-out side sill and different alloy wheels. At the rear, there are twin exhausts. Moreover, Suzuki offers the Swift Sport in funky colours.
The changes to Swift Sport are not limited to cosmetic upgrades. It also gets a significantly more powerful petrol engine. It is a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces a maximum power output of 129 Ps of max power and 235 Nm of peak torque. It comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Swift Sport can hit a ton in 9.1 seconds and it has a top speed of 210 kmph which is quite impressive.
When compared, the Swift sold in India gets a 1.2-litre, naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 90 Ps of max power and 113 Nm of peak torque. It is offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT.
Moreover, Suzuki also made some changes to the chassis and suspension setup so that the hot hatchback feels tighter around the turns. The steering rack has also been tweaked so that it reacts faster which makes the steering feel quicker and the hatchback feels more agile. Then, Suzuki added rear disc brakes to add more stopping power. Suzuki Swift Sport weighs just 970 kgs.
Suzuki working on new-gen Swift
Suzuki has already started working on a new generation of Swift. It is expected to debut in 2023. The design will be an evolution of the current design. It will look sharper than the current gen. It could be based on a new platform but we expect the Indian version to come on Heartect platform. Maruti might not make any changes to the engine as they recently came with the 1.2-litre DualJet VVT engine.
