India has one of the largest road networks in the world. Many of these roads remain unmonitored by the authorities and police. This allows scammers and looters to target high-value packages like cargo trucks. We have seen many such incidents in the past where looters have targeted such trucks. Here is one such video from Rajasthan, where a few looters try to loot the cargo of a truck on the highway.
The video by Transport TV is taken from another truck that was travelling behind the victim. According to the information, two men came in the Mahindra Bolero pick-up to loot the trucker on the highway. The truck driver got scared and did not stop. Instead, he crashed his heavy vehicle against the Bolero Pick-Up and started pushing him on the highway.

According to the information, the trucker forced the Bolero pick-up for several kilometres like this. When the truck driver slowed down, two men travelling in the Bolero came out and tried jumping inside the cabin of the truck. However, they could not do it.
We are not sure about the outcome of the whole incident. However, in the end, they show the footage of the Bolero pick-up severely damaged. It is a brand-new Bolero pick-up and there was no registration plate on the vehicle as well. We are yet to get an official report from the authorities on the incident.
Common scams on highways
With a vast road network around India, there are hundreds of kilometres that remain secluded for a long time. This gives ample opportunities to the thieves. In the past, we have seen incidents where the thieves stop the vehicle by using various methods like putting up barricades, dressing like cops and more. However, this is something new. It allows the thieves to get done with their job without letting the driver know about it.
This is not an isolated incident. In the past, a few other tracks have been looted in a similar fashion. This also happens in the USA, where trucks are quite common.
Indian highways remain quite dangerous and unsafe, especially while going through the secluded sections. People get stopped by thieves and robbers all the time and get looted on the highways. In fact, there are various gangs that operate at different locations across India and loot vehicles on the highways. These gangs use different tactics like keeping a massive stone on the road, creating a roadblock using stones, dressing like police officials and stopping the vehicles, throwing eggs on the windscreen and more.
That is why it is always advisable to travel during the daytime if you are travelling on a new road or an unknown road. The chances of such loots and robberies reduce during daylight. Have you ever been a victim of highway robbery?
