Ola S1 Pro outsells Ather 450 electric scooter in March 2022

Ola Electric might be facing a huge backlash on the web world for the quality issues, safety concerns and the infamous incident of an Ola S1 Pro burning up in flames all by itself. However, when it comes to sales performance, the new electric vehicle maker has reached the second position in the Indian market in terms of sales numbers. Ola Electric sold 9,127 units of S1 Pro in March 2022, thus moving ahead of its direct rival, Ather Energy, by a huge margin.

Compared to the 9,127 units of Ola S1 Pro sold in March 2022, Ather Energy sold 2226 units of its 450X electric scooters. Ola Electric has registered a month-on-month growth of 134 per cent, as the company sold 3,907 units of S1 Pro in February 2022. Ola Electric has now moved closer to the number one electric two-wheeler company in India, Hero Electric, which sold 11,023 electric scooters in March 2022.

The fiery response received by Ola Electric for the S1 Pro electric scooter is commendable, considering that the legacy two-wheeler manufacturers, TVS and Bajaj Auto, are yet to catch up pace in the electric mobility segment with their respective offerings. While TVS sold 2,267 units of its sole electric offering, the iQube electric scooter, Bajaj Auto posted an even lesser figure of just 827 units of Chetak electric scooter in March 2022.

Ola doesn’t have dealerships

However, it should be noted that unlike the TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak which are available only in selected cities, Ola S1 Pro can be had in any corner of India under Ola Electric’s direct-to-home delivery procedure. It is a first-in-industry ownership experience, which doesn’t involve any physical presence of dealer outlets for sales and service.

Launched in August 2021, Ola S1 Pro is offered with an 8.5 kW electric motor and a 3.97 kWh non-removable lithium-ion battery. The 8.5 kW electric motor of the S1 Pro produces 58 Nm of peak torque output and can help the scooter reach a top speed of 115 km/h in the Hyper riding mode, one of the three riding modes the scooter has on offer. On the other hand, the 3.97 kWh battery of the scooter claims a maximum riding range of 181 km in the Eco mode and takes 6 hours and 30 minutes for a full charge using the 750 W charger provided with the scooter. The Ola S1 Pro carries a sticker price of Rs 1.30 lakh.
