The next generation Mahindra Scorpio 2022 is coming to the market soon as the company has already started teasing the upcoming SUV. The upcoming Mahindra Scorpio (Z101) was also been testing for quite some time on the Indian roads. The teaser video revealed a few details of the SUV’s headlight, side profile, and rear-left corner. Now, the spy images of the SUV have surfaced online ahead of its launch.
Whats New
The spy images shows the new 2022 Mahindra Scorpio SUV with a quite muscular design. The picture also revealed that Mahindra has placed its vertical grille design that extends to become the double-barrel headlamps.
The car was seen sporting a honeycomb pattern grille in the lower part of its front bumper with C-shaped LED DRLs with fog lamps. However, the spy images shows the next-gen Mahindra Scorpio with the old branding of the company, whereas the one teased a few days ago wears the new ‘Twin Peaks’ Mahindra logo, as seen on the XUV700.
Apart from this, the new Scorpio gets a new set of diamond-cut alloy wheels which are likely 17-inches, and a slightly raked chrome beltline rising from the C-pillar. It has also seen with a vertically mounted tail lamps and a side-opening tailgate. The rear bumper features a fairly flatter profile, similar to the outgoing model. The upcoming SUV features reverse lights at the end of the bumpers with a wrap-around chrome strip.
Inside the cabin, the SUV will sport an all new design and is expected to come with a much larger touchscreen, vertically placed AC vents, and some interior elements shared with the XUV700.
According to revious leak reports, the updated Scorpio will likely be coming in 6 and 7 seater layouts with multiple seating options. The 2022 Mahindra Scorpio was spied with a 360 degree camera, rear disc brakes, turn indicators, cruise control and connected car technology along with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and Alexa support.
It may have multiple airbags, front parking sensors, electronic stability control, tyre pressure monitoring system and high speed alert as safety features. It will also get speed sensing door lock, rear parking sensors, ABS and EBD.
Powertrain options
The new Scorpio is likely to come with a 2.0-litre petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engine options, and Mahindra is expected to offer manual and automatic gearboxes on both engines, with four-wheel drive likely to be reserved for the top-spec variants.
It will likely be sold alongside the current Scorpio which was recently updated. It will rival against Tata Safari, MG Hector and the Hyundai Alcazar. The new Scorpio should be priced between Rs 12 to 19 lakh (ex-showroom). The new SUV has been designed by the Mahindra India Design Studio (M.I.D.S) in Mumbai, and engineered at the state-of-the-art facilities of Mahindra Research Valley (M.R.V.) near Chennai.
