Mahindra Thar and Toyota Fortuner. Both these SUVs belong to two different segment and both of them have created a space for themselves in their respective segments. Both these SUVs are capable off-roaders but it is not a natural choice among people who like to do drag races. There are several reason why SUVs are not suitable for races. Even then there are several videos of Toyota Fortuner and Mahindra Thar available online where these two SUVs are competing with other vehicles in drag races. Here we have a video where both these SUVs are competing against each other is a drag race.

The video has been uploaded by IT’S ME AHLAWAT on their YouTube channel. In this video, the vlogger starts by talking about the technical specifications of both the SUVs. The Toyota Fortuner seen here in the video is a pre-facelift model which means it is powered by a 2.8 litre turbocharged diesel engine that generates 174 Bhp and 450 Nm of peak torque. The Mahindra Thar on the other hand is powered by a 2.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine that generates 150 Bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque. Vlogger mentions that the Thar is brand new and the owner of the Thar can also be heard saying in the video that he is quite confident that Fortuner will win the race.

Both the SUVs are lined up for the race. The Fortuner is being driven by the vlogger and his friend is driving the Thar. Traction control is turned off in both the SUVs and the Fortuner was in Power Mode. AC was turned off in Fortuner and it looks like the same was done in Thar as well. The race started and immediately Toyota Fortuner took the lead and maintained it till the end. Mahindra Thar driver could not get a proper launch which means, he lost the round. The gap between both the SUVs kept on building and Fortuner won the first round.

After this, both the SUVs were lined up for the second round and drivers were the same. The race started and the Fortuner once again took the lead immediately after the race started. This time however, the Fortuner was in Eco mode and the gap between both the SUVs was way more less than the first round. The Thar can be seen struggling in the ORVMs but at no point, it could actually overtake Fortuner.

For the third round, vlogger mentioned that he is going to keep the traction control On on his Fortuner to see if that makes any difference. The race started and Fortuner won this round as well. His friend who was sitting on the co-passenger seat simply turned the AC on as he saw that there was no way Thar was going to win it. For the last round, vlogger’s friend decided to drive the Thar to see what is actually happening. The owner mentions that there is a lag and that is messing up the launch. The soft suspension the Thar are also not helping. Even in the fourth round, results remained the same. Toyota Fortuner was declared as the winner of the race.
