SUVs are selling like hotcakes right now. Most of the manufacturers are selling some kind of SUV in our country. If they do not have a SUV in their portfolio then they are currently working on one. Here, are the SUVs of 2022 that will be launching soon.

Maruti Suzuki Brezza

Maruti Suzuki is working on a new generation of the Brezza. It will no longer use the Vitara moniker. The exterior will be all-new with sleek pair of LED headlamps that come with a projector setup and there will be slim LED tail lamps as well. The engine will be the same one as the Ertiga and XL6. However, there could be a CNG powertrain this time on offer. The transmission options would include a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. There would be also many new features on offer.

Toyota Urban Cruiser

Toyota will also be rebadging the 2022 Maruti Brezza and will sell it as their Urban Cruiser. Toyota will change the bumpers and the LED Daytime Running Lamp might also be different. There could also be some changes to the cabin theme as well.

Toyota D22

Toyota D22 is a new mid-size SUV that has been co-developed with Maruti Suzuki. It is expected to come with a 1.5-litre strong hybrid system. There will be a split headlamp design in the front and the grille could be like we have seen on the Glanza. The test mules of the new SUV have already been spotted. The D22 is expected to get launched during the festive season this year.

Maruti Suzuki is also working on a mid-size SUV that has been codenamed YFG. It is essentially a Toyota D22 but with a different body. So, there would be some differences in the way both the SUVs look. There would be no difference between the D22 and YFG mechanically. It is expected to launch during the festive season this year.

Hyundai Tucson

Hyundai has started testing the new generation of Tucson on Indian roads. It will get a new style of grille and the interior will also be significantly different from the current model. As of now, we do not know with what engine will the new-gen Tucson come to India.

Hyundai has already launched the Creta facelift in the global market. The manufacturer updated the design so quickly because it was quite polarizing and many people did not like it. Moreover, the new design will make Creta look like a smaller version of Tucson. Mechanically, there will be no changes although Hyundai might add some features.

Hyundai Venue Facelift/Venue N Line

Hyundai is also testing a facelifted version of the Venue. It will come with a new grille style that is similar to the one found on the Tucson and the Creta Facelift. At the rear, there will be new split LED tail lamps and there would be a new set of alloy wheels too. Mechanically, it will stay the same. Hyundai will also bring the Venue N Line to the Indian market. It will get some cosmetic upgrades but more importantly, there would be some mechanical upgrades as well that would improve the handling of the compact SUV.

Mahindra is working on the new-gen Scorpio for a lot of time now. They will finally launch the 2022 Scorpio this year and they have started releasing new teasers now. The dimensions of the SUV will now be larger. It will be offered with a petrol as well as diesel engine. Transmission options would include a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Moreover, there would be a 4×4 system and drive modes also.

Tata Harrier/Safari Petrol

Tata is testing the Harrier and Safari with a new petrol engine. This will help in bringing down starting price of both the SUVs. It will be a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine that will have around 160 bhp. The torque output is expected to be around 250 Nm but it is not confirmed as of now.

Hyundai IONIQ5

Hyundai has started testing their Ioniq 5 electric crossover on the Indian roads. They will bring it as a CBU or CKD which means that it will be priced on the higher side. Needless to say that Ioniq 5 will be a head-turner. It is based on the e-GMP platform and is sold in two battery sizes. As of now, we do not know which battery pack will Hyundai bring to India.

Kia EV6

Kia is also bringing their first electric vehicle to India. It is called EV6 and is quite a looker. The bookings of the EV6 open on the 26th of May and the launch is expected to happen in June. It will also come as a CKD or CBU. So, it will be priced on the higher side. It shares the same e-GMP platform as the Hyundai Ioniq 5. In fact, the electric drivetrain is also shared with the Ioniq 5.

Skoda Kushaq Monte Carlo

Skoda will launch the Kushaq’s Monte Carlo variant on May 9th. It only gets cosmetic changes but those changes are enough to stand it out on the road. Skoda has also added a digital instrument cluster to the new variant. The Monte Carlo variant will be the new top-end variant of the Kushaq. Mechanically, it will stay the same.

Jeep Meridian

Jeep has opened bookings for the new Meridian. They will be revealing the price of the new SUV in June. It comes with the same 2.0-litre diesel engine as the Compass. Tata Nexon EV Max

Tata will be launching the Nexon EV Max on 9th May. It will come with more features when compared to the Nexon EV. There are changes in the interior in the form of a new gear shifter and Tata has also added some new features. Moreover, on the sides, there are new 5-spoke alloy wheels. The Nexon EV Max is expected to come with a 40 kWh battery pack that should have a claimed range of 400 km.
