Kia Sonet CNG spotted during test in India

Kia is expecting to launch the CNG version of its popular SUV Kia Sonet. The Kia Sonet CNG has been spotted recently during its test in India and we are quite excited about the launch of the car. If the Kia Sonet CNG is introduced in India, it will be the first compact SUV to have a CNG version. The addition of the CNG variant to the existing model of Sonet means that the users will have three variants. The three variants will be petrol, diesel and CNG.

The Kia Sonet CNG model that was spotted during the test was top-spec GT Line trim. This means that the CNG version is based on the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol model. Another sign that the test version of the car was a CNG variant was that it had a CNG sticker on the rear windscreen.

The Kia Sonet GT 1.0-litre turbo-petrol model churns out 120PS of power and 172Nm of maximum torque. The variant gets a 6-speed iMT (clutchless manual) and 7-speed DCT options. However, when the CNG variant is launched it will have some drop in power. The Kia Sonet is also available in a 1.2- litre naturally aspirated, four-cylinder petrol engine. The 1.2- litre petrol engine produces 83PS power and 115 Nm torque.

The design of the Kia Sonet CNG will be basically the same as that of the other trims. This means that the CNG Sonet will have LED headlamps as well as rear lights. The grille will be the same while a pair of roof rails will be present on the top.

Currently in India, Tata Motors and Maruti Suzuki offer CNG vehicles. With the introduction of Kia Sonet SUV, the company will enter into the segment of CNG vehicle manufacturers. We are hoping that Kia will come forward and officially reveal the specifications and launch details of the upcoming CNG SUV.
