Kia EV6 bookings start in India from today

South Korean automaker Kia has started the bookings for its upcoming electric car ‘Kia EV6’ in India. The electric car is all set to launch on 2 June, 2022. The car is brought to India as a completely built unit (CBU) and is limited to only 100 units (for 2022). This means that if you want to own an EV6 in 2022, you must hurry up and make bookings as soon as possible.

Booking amount

The Kia EV6 can be booked at by paying a token amount of Rs 3 lakh. However, the booking can be made exclusively across 12 cities in India through 15 select dealerships. The bookings of Kia EV6 can be made through the official website of Kia (Kia India) as well as in dealerships. Similarly, the bookings can also be made through the Kia dealers across India. India will only get the GT version of the electric car which is the top spec variant.

Battery and Power

The Kia EV6 is offered with a 77.4 kWh Battery pack along with rear-wheel-drive (RWD) or all-wheel-drive (AWD). The RWD variant of the Kia EV6 produces 229hp of power and 350Nm of torque. On the other hand, the AWD variant of the Kia EV6 produces 325hp of power and 605Nm of torque.

In terms of charging, the Kia EV6 gets the option for two types of charging- 50kW and 350kW. The 50kW charging can charge the battery from 10 percent to 80 percent in 73 minutes. On the other hand, there is an option for a 350kW fast charging too. In this mode users can charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 18 minutes, claimed Kia. On a single charge, the Kia EV6 offers a full charge of 528kms.

The Kia EV6 gets three driving modes which allow the driver to use the car according to his/ her driving conditions. The driving modes on the EV6 are Normal, Sport and Eco. The car also gets smart regenerative braking feature.

Features

The important features that are available in the Kia EV6 GT is Augmented Reality, a pair of 12.3-inch screens, Heads-up Display, 14-speaker Meridian sound system, connected car tech, electronically adjustable front seats etc. Major feature on the Kia EV6 includes sunroof.

Safety

When it comes to safety, the Kia EV6 GT offers a plethora of safety features. The safety features on the EV6 include ADAS features like lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitor, and forward collision assist. Other safety features include eight air bags, hill hold assist, electronic stability programme and Euro NCAP.

Price

Keeping in mind about the power, torque and range of the Kia EV6, we expect that the electric car will have a price range of Rs 60 lakh to Rs 70 lakh.

Competitors

Currently, the Kia EV6 does not have any competitors in the Indian market. However, it will have its competitors after Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Volvo XC40 launch in India.
