Maruti Suzuki is currently working on a mid-size SUV for Indian market. The upcoming SUV is currently known by the codename YFG and will rival with the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos in the segment. The SUV is jointly being developed with Toyota and the SUVs have been spotted testing on our roads couple of times. Maruti is extensively testing the SUV for Indian conditions and recently during one such test, the interiors of the upcoming YFG SUV was captured. The spy pictures reveal some of the features that the upcoming SUV from Maruti will offer.
The Maruti YFG SUV will come with a different design language for the cabin when compared to other Maruti products in the line-up. The dashboard design looks simple with the new touchscreen infotainment system placed in the centre. The AC vents are positioned below the new touchscreen infotainment system. The touchscreen is expected to be a 9 inch unit similar to what we saw of the 2022 Maruti Baleno. The other image shows some of the buttons on the right hand side of the steering wheel. A Blue coloured Start/Stop button can be seen here. Just below that there are buttons that says HUD. This means that the upcoming YFG SUV will get HUD just like Baleno and it is quite possible that the SUV will also come with 360 degree camera feature as well.

The headlamps levelling buttons and the button to adjust the HUD screen can also be seen in the picture. The steering is not clearly visible in the image but it is expected to come with a multi-function flat bottom unit. A cruise control button can also be seen here. Other features that the upcoming SUV is expected to get are automatic climate control, electric sunroof, ventilated seats and so on. The YFG SUV looks large when compared to Maruti Brezza. Although the SUV has only been spotted with heavy camouflage, the dimensions can be easily understood. It gets a wide grille at the front and the headlamps are placed on the bumper on either side of the grille. It is similar to what we have seen in Hyundai Creta and Tata Harrier.
The headlamps are expected to be projector units as they are becoming common in cars these days. Turn indicators are placed just below the bonnet and LED DRL unit is also expected to be seen next to it. The SUV gets squared wheel arches and there are 5 spoke alloy wheels with the SUV as well. The tail lamps are placed on the tail gate but it looks like the turn indicators and reverse lamp are placed on the bumper. The rear also gets roof mounted spoiler and a shark fin antenna, rear wiper with defogger. Maruti YFG is said to be based on Toyota’s DNGA platform. As mentioned above, this SUV is being jointly developed with Toyota and Toyota is also working on a similar product.
The upcoming SUV is expected to be powered by a 1.5 litre petrol engine which would be available with a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission or a CVT. The SUV will gets the mild hybrid system and a version of the same SUV with a stronger hybrid system is also said to be on work. The strong hybrid system is expected to be offered in a higher version.
