Hyundai Working On a New Mini SUV to Challenge Tata Punch?

[ad_1]

Hyundai has discontinued its entry-level Santro hatchback in the country. The model is now out of production at the company’s Tamil Nadu plant. It’s the second-time when the Hyundai Santro goes off-shelf in the country. While there is no official word on the same, a few reports suggest that the company might introduce a new mini/micro SUV within the price range similar to the Santro. That means, the new Hyundai mini SUV could be priced from Rs 5 lakh (ex-showroom) onwards.

If it happens, the new Hyundai mini SUV will be positioned against the Tata Punch and the upcoming Citroen C3. Speculations are on rife that the model could be offered with the 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol and 1.0L turbo petrol engine options. There might also be the CNG version. These powertrains will be borrowed from the Grand i10 Nios hatchback. More details on Hyundai’s plan for a mini SUV are likely to be revealed in near future.

In other updates, the company is gearing up to launch the 2022 Hyundai Venue facelift in coming weeks. In fact, select dealers have started accepting bookings for the SUV’s new model. Most of the changes will be cosmetic including the brand’s new parametric grille, new alloy wheels, revised taillamps and slightly tweaked bumpers. On the feature front, the new Venue might get a 360 degree camera, updated and bigger infotainment unit, Bose audio system, ventilated front seats and front parking sensors.

After the updated Venue, the company will bring in the Hyundai Creta facelift that’s reported to hit showrooms in the second half of this year. The SUV is rumoured to come with the ADAS (advanced driving assistance system) along with the updated BlueLink connected car tech, a new digital instrument console and more. The new Venue and Creta facelifts will continue to feature their existing engine setups.
