Honda City e:HEV Hybrid Sedan Launched In India; Priced At Rs. 19.50 Lakh

Honda Cars India launched the hybrid model of its City sedan, the Honda City e:HEV sedan in the country at a price of ₹ 19.50 lakh (ex-showroom, India) for its single ZX trim, making it pricier by almost ₹ 4.5 lakh over the standard City ZX. The Honda City e:HEV sedan is the first Honda car to bring its Honda Sensing technology or ADAS features to India. The Honda City e:HEV hybrid sedan will be manufactured in India at Honda’s manufacturing facility in Tapukara, Rajasthan. The deliveries will begin from its dealer network across the country from today.

The Honda City e:HEV hybrid is powered by a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder, Atkinson Cycle petrol engine and two electric motors, that combined, deliver 124 bhp and 253 Nm of peak torque. Honda claims the City Hybrid is 40 per cent more fuel-efficient than its petrol counterpart and returns a claimed 26.5 kmpl fuel efficiency. The hybrid City is also 110 kg heavier than its petrol-powered version. The City e:HEV also gets updated with disc brakes at all corners and an electronic parking brake.

The Honda City e:HEV hybrid sedan has three drive modes – EV, hybrid, and petrol, and can run on electric power in the EV mode. Visually, there are very subtle changes to the car in design while the cabin gets upgraded with new upholstery and a hybrid-specific instrument cluster. The rest of the elements are carried over from the ZX trim that it is based on. In terms of features, the Honda City e:HEV hybrid receives ADAS functions via Honda Sensing such as Lane Change Assist, Pedestrian Alert, and Adaptive Cruise Control.

There’s also Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), and Auto High Beam. Other safety features include six airbags, Honda Lane-Watch, a 360-degree view camera, and tyre pressure monitoring.
