Dulquer Salman only celebrity to own old-gen and new Defenders

The car enthusiasts from Kerala, popularly known as “God’s own country”, are known for their exquisite taste in premium cars and nicely-executed car modifications even in regular cars like a Maruti Suzuki Swift. Even the actors from the state from the industry of “Mollywood” are frequently in news for their elite collection of cars. One such actor is Dulquer Salmaan, who recently acquired an all-new Land Rover Defender.

In the pictures by Automobili Ardent which have gone viral on social media, it is confirmed that Dulquer Salmaan has bought a Tasman Blue coloured Land Rover Defender. In one of the pictures which are floating on the internet, the new Defender bought by Dulquer is parked alongside a white-coloured previous-generation Defender, which is also owned by him. With this, Dulquer becomes the only celebrity in India to have both old-generation and new-generation versions of the Land Rover Defender in his garage.

The Land Rover Defender acquired by Dulquer Salmaan is the five-door “110” version in the range-topping HSE variant. This particular version of the SUV gets a 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel engine, which is coupled to an 8-speed automatic gearbox and produces 300 PS of maximum power and 650 Nm of maximum torque. Loaded with all the bells and whistles, this version of the Defender, like its other versions, comes with Land Rover’s legendary four-wheel-drive system as standard.

Dulquer Salman is a mega car enthusiast

Apart from his acting skills in South Indian films, particularly the Malayalam ones, Dulquer Salmaan is one of the most renowned car enthusiasts from the southern part of India, which is evident from his car collection. Apart from these two different generation models of Land Rover Defender 110, the actor also owns a few other exquisite cars like Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, Ferrari 458 Spider, BMW X6 M, BMW M3, Mini Cooper S, BMW i8, Volkswagen Polo GTI and Mercedes-AMG G63.

Dulquer Salmaan is not the first film celebrity to buy a Land Rover Defender. Apart from his counterpart in Malayalam Cinema and another notable car enthusiast Prithviraj, who also has the nicely-restored previous-generation version, other celebrities from Bollywood like Arjun Kapoor and Aayush Sharma have bought the new-generation “110” versions of the SUV.

The Land Rover Defender is available in India in three-door “90” and five-door “110” versions. Both these versions of the Land Rover Defender are sold with 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol, 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbo-petrol and 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel engine options.
