All-new 2023 Hyundai Verna sedan caught testing in India for first time

Hyundai will bring the next-generation Verna sedan to the Indian market later this year. Codenamed BN7, the new Hyundai sedan was caught testing in South India by ACI for the first time ever. The all-new Verna will be introduced in the international markets by the end of this year and was spotted testing in the South Korean markets as well.

While the design of the all-new Hyundai Verna remains under heavy camouflage, we can expect the car to follow the new-age ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design language that the cars like Hyundai i20, Elantra and Sonata already get in Indian and international markets.

We can expect the new Hyundai Verna to get a wide grille that will merge into the headlamps. Like the Hyundai Venue, we may get to see a split headlamp design. The new split headlamp design trend has become quite common and even cars like Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus also offer a similar set-up.

The rear of the all-new Hyundai Verna will also have a new look with a sharp design that will be similar to the Hyundai Elantra. The new Hyundai Verna will also grow in size and will be slightly bigger than the current version of the sedan.

The cabin will also get a few changes. We can expect an all-new dashboard and an updated cabin design in the upcoming car. Hyundai has always been generous with its features and the new Hyundai Verna will come with a list of new features including a sunroof, LED headlamps and cooled seats among others.

Will continue to get petrol and diesel engines

The all-new Hyundai Verna will continue to offer petrol and diesel engine options in the Indian market. The same engine options will be carried forward. The petrol variants will get the 1.5-litre unit with the option of both manual and automatic while the diesel variants will get the 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine with both types of transmission.

While Hyundai is yet to confirm officially, we may get to see the new Verna with a mild-hybrid system. This will allow the car to extract maximum fuel efficiency and also comply with the CAFE norms.

The all-new Verna will go against the likes of Honda City, which recently got an updated strong-hybrid version. Even the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz offers a mild-hybrid system. Other cars in the segment like the VW Virtus and the Skoda Slavia do not offer any mild-hybrid set-up but both the vehicles are powered by the optional 1.5-litre TSI that gets the advanced cylinder deactivation technology.
