Street presence compared on video

The all-new 2022 Maruti Suzuki Brezza was launched last weeks, and bookings for the new compact SUV are open across all Maruti Suzuki Arena dealerships in India. While the media drives are now on, opinions are embargoed until the 6th of July 2022. What we can show you though is the street presence of the all-new Brezza, and how it stacks up against the older model on the road. Here’s a video that will show you just that.

As the video clearly indicates, the all-new Maruti Vitara Brezza seems much bigger than the outgoing model. But is it, really? For starters, both sub-4 meter compact SUVs share the exact same length, same width and the wheelbase, at 3,995 mm, 1790 mm and 2,500 mm respectively. So, how is it that the new Brezza appears much larger than the outgoing version. No, it’s not a sly camera trick but the height that’s making all the difference. The all-new Brezza is 1,685 mm tall, which is a full 45 mm more than the outgoing model. It’s this extra height that’s really coming through in the street presence of the all-new Brezza, making it seem significantly larger than the outgoing model.

Then, there’s the matter of styling. The new Brezza has a wide, sculpted tail gate, which also gets wide tail lamps that stretch quite a bit across the tail gate. The stretched out tail lamps make the new SUV’s rear quite expansive, making it look significantly larger than the outgoing model. And it’s not just the older Brezza that looks significantly smaller than the new version. Even the Tata Nexon seems to have a diminished street presence compared to the all-new Brezza, and again, the height and the styling is what is giving the new compact SUV a solid street presence. Full marks to Maruti Suzuki’s designers for coming up with a handsome looker!

The all-new Brezza features a 1.5 liter-4 cylinder K15C petrol engine that puts out about 102 Bhp of peak power and 137 Nm of peak torque. Compared to the older Brezza, the new SUV’s power and torque figures are marginally lower but most drivers are not even likely to feel it as the difference is quite minuscule. While a 5 speed manual gearbox is standard, where the all-new Brezza really scores is with its automatic transmission, which is a 6 speed torque converter. This is a major step up from the 4 speed torque converter automatic that the older SUV featured.

Talking of features, the all-new Brezza is quite loaded. From a electric sunroof and a 360 degree camera to a heads-up-display and 6 airbags, the SUV has many new features to offer. In terms of safety, the 6 airbags are complemented by ABS+EBD, hill hold and electronic stability program. The new Brezza is likely to score well on the Global NCAP crash test, whose results are highly anticipated. Prices for the new Brezza start from Rs. 7.99 lakh, and deliveries of the sub-4 meter compact SUV will begin shortly.
